SQL Anywhere 8.0.2 SQL Remote FTP replication problems
I have a problem setting up the FTP message control parameters with SQL
I use the SET REMOTE FTP OPTION statement to do this. See an example.
Considering a remote user with name 'pippo'...
SET REMOTE FTP OPTION pippo.host = 'my_host';
SET REMOTE FTP OPTION pippo.user = 'mickey';
SET REMOTE FTP OPTION pippo.password = 'mouse';
SET REMOTE FTP OPTION pippo.root_directory = 'root_dir';
These four statements set FTP parameters for the pippo database user.
This means that I want that the user pippo gain access to the replicati...Replication sql-anywhere-> Oracle without replication server?

Anyone got some experience to share?
Replication Server is the only way to do this.

We are going to be installing AS Enterprise in home office and AS Anywhere
in the field. We would like to use an autoincrement key on some tables. Is
there a good way to avoid duplicate keys. Also, are there any pitfalls to
using the two different servers for replication.
You cannot take advantage of the special IDENTITY data type when
creating a replication definition with an ASA db as the subscriber. If
you try this, replication of inserts from ASE to ASA will fail, because
the rep server will try to issue a "set identity_insert tablename on"

Is there any way of finding out if the data contained in a row of data
in a table on a remote database has been replicated to the
consolidated database. I'm trying to come up with some way of letting
a user edit data which has NOT been replicated \ consolidated yet, and
preventing editing data which has already been sent back to the
consolidated. Is this information available anywhere in the system
tables for instance.
Thanks in advance,

Do you have an idea on how to setup a 2nd remote server that can replicate
with the main site? 2nd site has its own set of laptop users using
DBREMOTE as well. I am using FILE as message link, and I don't know how to
deal with SQLREMOTE in the 2nd site.
- Software: SQL Anywhere Studio 7.03
- Replication method: DBREMOTE.EXE
- Message Link: FILE
- Server: 1 HQ Server
- Client: Several PCs directly using HQ DB Server , some laptops using
own DB and replicated daily using DBREMOTE

Any advise on this?
That's my solution fow now. The laptops in the third tier are directly
connecting to \\hq\dbs. But since I am using dial up, its clogging up my
connection. I am looking for a solution wherein only the server in second
site will use the dial up line, and eventually it will communicate these
changes to other terminals using LAN.
Thanks for your help!

The manuals show a tutorial on one PC, which works fine. It also refers to a
simple file transfer mechanism that can be used to exchange files
periodically to effect replication. It doesn't say which files should be
transferred and to what directories?
Does anyone have a specific example on how this can be done?

Anybody tried using SQL remote to do replication between two ASE? I don't
need Replication Server just basic replication. since 11.9.2 comes with SQL
Remote, I thought why not give it a try!
I just started research on SQL-Anywhere Remote using FILE and MAPI as well.
It's a realy nice feature, cause I do update data not so offten.
So, just try it out.

You should post these to sybase.public.sqlanywhere.replication.
It should be in your %ASANY7%\win32 directory.

I have a main location, where Sybase ASE and most users are sitting, and one

My system has 3 units ASA --- ASE --- ASE so the middle one
need to replicate with ASA and ASE on the same machine.
In order to have SSRemote and the Rep Agent for ASE run on the same database
you must use SSQueue.
This was available in a 5.5.04 EBF, which also means you must be at least at
5.5.04 of SSRemote.
Please contact technical support and ask for an EBF for 5.5.04, including
