Server-side connection via ODBC and C/C++

In ASA7 is it possible to achieve something like this (see below) using ODBC
and C/C++ instead of JDBC? For my purposes Java is out of the question and
I'd like to be able to perform some server-side processing in an external
DLL on behalf of a client connection and have its changes remain part of the
client transaction.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Dave.

You could create a proxy, back to the same database if necessary. Or you
could just call external functions. I'm not sure how you would get this
second option as part of the client transaction though.

What is a proxy (in this context) and how would I create one?

In ASA 6.0.2+ a proxy is a "pointer" to another database. You can create
a DSN on the server and then set up the database to know how to use that
DSN. The DSN can even point back to the same database if you wanted to.

Ah - I see what you mean now - thank you. I notice from the ASA7 help that I
can also define proxy procedures. I'm still unsure as to how this will help
the external DLL establish a server-side connection to the database though,
or if it is possible at all with C/C++ and ODBC.

About C and C++
Hello, I will resume it like this: On the criterias of "complexity" and "difficulty", the C and C++ programming languages are more complex and difficult than Object Pascal for example, so since they are more complex and difficult they are likely to create something like a darwinian filter who don't let the weaker humans among us humans to cross or to climb the social ladder, this is why i think that C and C++ do participate to social darwinism, this is why i say that C and C++ are bad. C++ or C#
HI, I have still seen that many big companies are still using C++ as their primary language of choice instead of C#. Like IBM stilll prefers C++ over c#. Any reason ???HighOnCodingWanna get high! Well not everybody has the .net framework installed. C++ will work on any platform, c# will not yet because the framework has not been ported to all platforms yet (e.g. mac). Also you have to think of the expense of a large company to retrain ALL its coders to use the new framework. C or C++
What's the difference in using C or C++ for ultralite developments?. Novice user. Thank you The ONLY difference is YOUR preference. There is no speed difference between the two. Server-side posting to another server using C#
Hi,I have a page that makes an AJAX call (GET method) in the background to a local ASP file which in turn calls a PHP page on another server. (I cannot do this directly with AJAX due to XSS issues).
