How do you get a dw's sort string before changing the sort ?

Hi,

This seems to be something very basic, but for the life of me I can't find
any documentation on this.....

I would like to capture the sort string of my datawindow before I change it.
How can I capture the sort??

Thanks in advance.

Andy

 dw_1.Object.DataWindow.Table.Sort
    OR

dw sort and sort
PB 10.2 When you create a datawindow you can choose "rows", "sort". In the SQL there is also a tab page "sort". Probably the tab-page sort in SQL is only when retrieving the data. The tabpage sort is used you call the dw_sort() function. Is this correct? Is the "rows", "sort" called automatically after the data is retrieved? Sort datagrid with 'string' and 'date' columns..
I have a datagrid that can be sorted and paged.  The sorting of the string columns are working but the date column is not.  This is my situation:My datagrid has the following HTML: <asp:DataGrid id="DataGrid1" runat="server" AllowSorting="True" AutoGenerateColumns="False" OnSortCommand="SortGrid" AllowPaging="True" OnPageIndexChanged="PageGrid">Private Sub SortGrid(ByVal source As Object, ByVal e As DataGridSortCommandEventArgs)     If e.SortExpression.ToString() = viewstate("sortField").ToString() Then         ...

'sort(func(list))' <=same as=> 'sort func (list)' ?!?!?
I was recently bitten by this, and it's not clear to me (and others) if this is correct Perl behavior or not. If you have a user defined function 'func' that returns a list and you'd like to sort that return value it's reasonable to try: sort(func(@list)); but apparently Perl interprets this as: sort func @list; thereby using 'func' as an ordering function instead of first processing '@list' with 'func' then sorting. Now I've read the stuff on page 1 of PERLFUNC(1) about parenthesis and whitespace being optional, but still...

Getting current sort string for dw
This seems like a really stupid question, but how can I get the sort string that is currently being applied to a u_dw based datawindow? I've tried two different ways in the following code: string ls_sort If isValid(dw_1.inv_sort) THEN ls_sort = dw_1.inv_sort.of_GetSort() MessageBox("Sort Service", "Sort is: " + ls_sort) ls_sort = dw_1.Object.DataWindow.Table.Sort MessageBox("test", "dw_1.Object.DataWindow.Table.Sort: " + ls_sort) END IF Both ways of getting the sort string display the default sort string that was specified in the d...

Sorting grid dw's
Dear all, I wrote a few sorting functions. But after i review my code, i want to redesign these functions. Every function is based on a window ex.1 => w_customers w_customers w_var w_var = w_frame.GetActiveSheet() //perform sort ex.2 => w_suppliers w_suppliers w_var w_var = w_frame.GetActiveSheet() //perform sort I am looking for a way to write a dynamic function, so i can pass maybe the window to this function and the sorting functions processes. TIA John I think I would be looking at putting this functionality in an ancestor window. You could also pas...

changing column heading's on sort
I want to change with the way sorting works on the DataGrid control (a little bit) but I don't know if it is possible. I've seen it done with ColdFusion, but not .NET. I have a page with a DataGrid with 3 sortable rows. I have the sorting working that when you click the column heading the first time, the data is sorted in ascending order. Then on the second click, it is reversed to descending order. What I want to do is, on the first click, append up and down arrow on both sides of the column heading (make it a part of the heading) and make the down arrow be the link for the sort func...

Column sort on Shared DW's
Hi It seems like column sorting b double clicking on a DW column header does not work when linking the DW with another with the PFC linkage service. On all my DW's that are not linked, it works. Did somebody else encounter this as well? And maybe have a solution for me! Thanks in advance. Egbert Raubenheimer Egbert, This is a PFC bug, that (I believe) is fixed in 6.0.01. If I remember correctly, the linkage service sees that a non-row was clicked (in the DataWindow clicked event) and returns before the sort service gets notified. HTH, Greg -- ____________...
