Migration from 1.2 to 2.0

SERVER: NT 4 SP3
INTERNET SERVER: MIIS 4

After stopping the Web Server and applying Powerdynamo 2.0 to our NetImpact
Dynamo 1.2 Installation, we cannot restart our Web Server. It gives the
following message:

Dr. Watson ... inetinfo.exe exception access violation.

Any suggestions?

Did you remove all of the registry entries for NetImpact Dynamo before you
installed PowerDynamo? This is a crucial step.

Did you possibly have the NID dll registered as an ISAPI filter? If so, try
removing that. It looks like IIS4 might be coughing while trying to load
the dll.

Is there a list of what needs to be removed anywhere?
Do I also need to delete all of the NID executables?
(I did remove the NID Filter DLL entry)

Is it just the NetImpact subtree under Sybase.
Does the conversion from 1.2 to 2.0 of the Repository work? or,
after I do this, do I need to delete my old "connection profile"
and create a new one?

Ken,

I couldn't find the info anywhere. I know it was a part of the 2.0 download
at one point.

I'll email Mike Desroches about getting the instructions.

I'll let you know.

Ken,

This is what Mike said.

>>
I am not aware of the document. However, you're on the right track. To
make things as clean as possible, just delete the sybtools\win32 and
sybtools\site folders and then delete the following from the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sybase\NetImpact

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sybase\Sybase Central\Profiles
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\Sybase Central\Profiles
delete any NetImpact entries under here

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sybase\Sybase Central\Providers and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\Sybase Central\Providers
delete the NetImpact Dynamo entry in these

That should do it.
Mike.

From 2.1.2 to 3.1 or 2.1.2 to 3.0.13 to 3.1
I'm checking back in after being away for a couple of months and I missed the 3.1 release. I can't seem to find any info on what's new in 3.1 and also what the upgrade path should be. So, is the recommended path for upgrading from v 2.1.2 to go directly to 3.1 or do I need to go to 3.0.13 first? Are there any big issues in 3.1 that make it a "gotta have it" version?I did a couple of 2.1.2 to 3.0.12 upgrades but haven't upgraded to or tested 3.1 yet. I have one 2.1.2 site that is commercial and I need it to be down as little time as possible. It also has a lot of third party modules...

Migrating from ASP.Net 1.1 to 2.0 #2
Hi, I have a class derived from ReadWriteControlDesigner which has following lines of code in one of its methods: mshtml.IHTMLElement QuestionHTML = ((mshtml.IHTMLElement)this.DesignTimeElement); string TagPrefix = ((mshtml.IHTMLElement2)this.DesignTimeElement).scopeName;In 2.0, this code does not compile. The nearest property I found was this.Tag, which gives me IControlDesignerTag interface, which has methods like GetOuterContent() etc. How do I get the scopeName from there? Any ideas? Is there any other way of doing this? Thanks.   Hi rajiv_naravane, ReadWriteControlDesigne...

Will migration from 2.1.2 to 2.2 be possible?
Hello, I was wondering if there will be plans to easily migrate from DNN 2.1.2 to DNN 2.2? I say easily because some people run thousands of portals on 1 DNN system. There should be an easy way to automatically migrate from old DNN to new. Is there going to be plans to allow this? If so, how will it work? Will any downsides exist? How about existing 2.1.2 skins and modules. Will they all work in DNN 2.2? How about the user model. Does that change in DNN 2.2? Right now its 1 username for the entire DNN server. Does DNN 2.2 have usernames unique to portals? If so, how w...

migrating from 1.2 to 2.0
I've developed a website in 1.2 and would like to migrate to 2.0. What's the best way to do that? It looks like there are many differences in control properties, etc. By 1.2, did you mean ASP.net 2.0's alpha bits, or ASP.net 1.1? If you're running 1.1, you should be able to build your app in 2.0 without any problems. If you were running the alpha bits, you ALSO should be able to build in 2.0, but there may be some syntax changes (especially in the web.config). Basically, try it out. If it doenst work, post your problems in this forum....
