PD 6 and PD 7.5A MCD file, generated by POWERAMC 6 can not be read with the new release
7.5.
Is it a known problem ?
can someone help me ?
(I've installed EBF 2)
thanks
Hi,
I remember having seen a problem like this importing V6 model when a
business rule is attached to an association link. If it is your case, you
should detach the business rules, import the model in V7 and attach the
business rule back in the V7 model.
Hope this is your case.
Marc.

PD 7.0 upgrade to 7.5I am trying to update my PowerDesigner (DataArchitect) application from
7.0.0.507 to the 7.5 version available from downloads.sybase.com.
The 7.0 version works. The upgrade keeps saying "PowerDesigner 7.0 was not
found". If I try the update with PD running the patch says "PowerDesigner 7
is currently opened".
Any suggestions?
My only advise is to contact Sybase tech support. I've heard of this
happening before to people, but never experienced it myself.

Just to make sure I give you the right answer, which version and build of
PowerDesigner are you using?
And, for your lurkers, that piece of information saves us the step of asking for
the version/build.

compatibility between PD 6.5 and PD 7.5I'm using PD 6.5 and I would like to upgrade to 7.5 but the MCD files
can not be read by the new release whereas the mpd file can be read.
Can someone help me. Maybe my MCD file is corrupted ?
I've downloaded the EBF 2 but it does no correct the problem.
thanks
OK, you have the AMC version. Did you make sure that you installed the full
version 7.5? The "PhysicalArchitect" version has the MPD but no MCD,
"DataArchitect" has MCD and MPD but no OOM, etc.
What error message do you get when you open the V6 MCD model?
Can you create a new MCD model in 7.5?...

PD 7.0.1 vs. PD 6 issuesI am trying to evaluate PD 7 and fould the following features apparently
missing from PD 6. I noticed that there are a number of things you do in a
different way so it may be that I cannot see how to get to these features.
1. Extended Attributes - We make extensive use of this in PD 6 and if it is
in fact no longer available in PD 7 we will have to return the software.
2. Ability to set the line style - So far I have only been able to change
line colors not. It is a pain to straighten this out, but not critical.
3. Inability to generate a create script - I am getting numerous errors...

Will PD 7.5 support DB2 7.1?See that DB2 7.1 now has counter fields. I'm wondering if PD 7.5 will
support the generation of schemas that use them.
I want to migrate a schema from Access 97 to DB2 7.1. Wondering if I
should wait for PD 7.5 to come out before even making the attempt.
Advice?
PD7.5 will have support for DB2 7.1 (yippee!)
Heck, I haven't even moved my production models over to PD7. I'm waiting
for 7.5 as well.
