The visible expression should be a string, and needs to be in quotes.
(Then you're inner quotes need to be tilde'd... I'll leave that joyous
experience for you. <beg>)

Good luck,

Hi Brijesh,

you have to tilde the inner quotes like Terry guessed
already:

   ls_modify = "inc_exc.visible='0~tif (cashincluded =~'Y~',1,0)'"

It's worse than that... Let me try to explain it...

You want this expression;
0<Tab>if(cashincluded =3D'Y',1,0)

escaped in a string to pass to modify, so this is the string you need
in memory;
inc_exc.visible=3D'0~tif (cashincluded =3D~'Y~',1,0)

But you need to escape it again to include this string in your source
code;
'inc_exc.visible=3D~'0~~tif (cashincluded =3D~~~'Y~~~',1,0)~''

I find it much easier to deal with by swapping quote characters with
each escaping pass;
'inc_exc.visible=3D"0~tif (cashincluded =3D~'Y~',1,0)"'

Hi
Thanks for your patience and reply.
I am little new to this technology so i may not be able to understand
what you may be trying to tell.
As you mentioned, i need to have below expression in memory
0<Tab>if(cashincluded =3D'Y',1,0)

I have put the code as ls_modify =3D"inc_exc.visible=3D0~tif (cashincluded
=3D~'Y~',1,0) "
and found the below string generated
inc_exc.visible=3D0	if (cashincluded =3D'Y',1,0)

Can you please tell me the complete expression that i need to put in
modify function ( ls_modify=3D"   ")
As I may not be able to understand intricacies involved in this.

Thanks

Datawindow Expressions #2
Hi there! I'm having a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I'm trying to change the attributes of a datawindow in PowerBuilder 6.5 so that the list of available radio buttons defined for a column is dynamic. Specifically, if a flag column in the datawindow is set to a 1, I need an extra radio-button added to the list of available selections. Otherwise, it should not be present. I've been looking at the .Values attribute for the datawindow object and I can manipulate it to change the available options but only when I don't have an expression. I just c...

Datawindow expressions #2
I'm having great difficulty delivering a datawindow expression in the correct syntax and I'm hoping someone can help me. The scenario is that a report datawindow is populated 'on the fly' from a collection of columns from any number of tables based on a number of criteria values. My job is to make the result set adjustable through a seperate datawindow. The populated datawindow is passed to an adjustment window and a number of selected rows (or all rows) from the report datawindow displayed for editing. No problem so far. What I'm trying to do is give the Use...

PowerBuilder DataWindow #2
Hi all, I have a requirement to implement a master-detail sheet. That's ok. However, based on the user-logged-in credential, the user may OR may not be able to edit the details part. Now I can easily implement this by adding a constraint while updating the details' data. if user_can_edit then update end if The problem is this: If the user is not entitled to make changes, he is still able to put focus to the details' form data and modify (of course I am not updating it)...but the user can get a feeling "oh I am able to modify the data". Is it so...
