From SQLAnywhere 5.5.0.4 to ASA in PB6.5

Hi all,

I am upgrading our single user PB application to a multiuser application

We are using as backend Adaptive Server Anywhere 6.0.1.1165.
Now I have a serious problem: when insert a row into a table, which has
an autoincremental field as primary key, the new key value is not
returned to my
datawindow/datastore and I really have selected the primary key as
identifier.

I have been looking in the file PBODB60.ini but I have not found a
section with
[ADAPTIVE SERVER ANYWHERE]. Should there be such a section ???

Is there someone who can help with getting my autoincremental key values
???
Thanks in advance,

Arjen

You should have such a section as explained in ASA 6.0 documentation:
    ASA New Features and Upgrading Guide
        Chapter 5. Upgrading to Adaptive Server Anywhere
                   Upgrade ODBC application
    Upgrade notes for PowerBuilder and Infomaker users

To upgrade your pbodb60.ini file:
 [Adaptive Server Anywhere]
 PBSyntax='WATCOM50_SYNTAX'
 PBDateTime='STANDARD_DATETIME'
 PBFunctions='WATCOM_FUNCTIONS'
 PBDefaultValues='autoincrement,current date,current time,current
                  timestamp,timestamp,null,user'
 PBDefaultCreate='YES'
 PBDefaultAlter='YES'
 PBDefaultExpressions='YES'
 DelimitIdentifier='YES'
 PBDateTimeInvalidInSearch='NO'
 PBTimeInvalidInSearch='YES'
 PBQualifierIsOwner='NO'
 PBSpecialDataTypes='WATCOM_SPECIALDATATYPES'
 IdentifierQuoteChar='"'
 PBSystemOwner='sys,dbo,rs_systabgroup'
 PBUseProcOwner='YES'
 SQLSrvrTSName='YES'
 SQLSrvrTSQuote='YES'
 SQLSrvrTSDelimit='YES'
 ForeignKeyDeleteRule='Disallow if Dependent Rows Exist RESTRICT),
                       Delete any Dependent Rows (CASCADE),
                       Set Dependent Columns to NULL (SET NULL)'
 TableListType='GLOBAL TEMPORARY'

That will correct your problem of PB not returning the value of
the identity key.

No because GetIdentity='Select @@identity from dummy' is part
of [WATCOM50_SYNTAX] not of [Adaptive Server Anywhere] part.

Anyway it work's fine for me in both 5.0.x and 6.0.x

Yves,
I think a critical entry is missing from your attached listing. For PB to
return the autoincrement value into a dw/ds, the following line needs to be
in the PBODB0n0.INI file:
GetIdentity='Select @@identity from dummy'

At least, this was required by 5.0.x...
