Upgrading ASE for NT 11.5 to 11.5.1 and OpenClient upgrades
First, how do I get the upgrade kit to upgrade ASE for NT from 11.5 to
Second, does the above upgrade kit also upgrade the OpenClient
I found the "EBF" files on the Sybase web site. Specifically,
EBF7786.zip, which has lots of fixes for OpenClient & OpenServer 11.1.1.
And EBF8015.zip, which has fixes for ASE 11.5.0.
I tried applying EBF8015.zip, but when I tried to starting the server, I
got the following error:
The procedure entry point uniconv_unistreamToS could not be located in
the dynamic link library libunic.dll.

...Upgrade from ASE 11.5.1 t 12.0 or 12.5
I'm planning an upgrade from 11.5.1 to either 12.0 or 12.5 on Sun Solaris
Since the in-place upgrade is not an option, can someone correct me if I'm
wrong in the steps that need to be performed.
1. backup all databases
2. drop databases and devices from current ASE
3. upgrade ASE 11.5.1 to either 12.0 or 12.5
4. re-create devices
5. re-create all databases for load
6. Load databases from dump
As an alternative, could I eliminate steps 4 and 5 by just loading master
from an 11.5.1 dump and have all devices and databases automatically

This seems to be missing! Can anyone help me?
There doesn't seem to be an update available from the Sybase web site. I
only see the following ebf's:
EBF 7830 - Updates from 11.5 to 11.5.0
EBF 8308 - Updates 11.5.1 only
EBF 8511 - Updates 11.5.1 to 188.8.131.52
Seems to be missing an EBF to upgrade from 11.5.0 to 11.5.1?
Can anyone help on this problem!

Here is the scenario we are going to upgrade ASE 11.5 to 12.5
on HPUX 11.00, K460, 1 gig mem, 3 servers namely
Server1 - 2 databases (5gig)
Server2 - 12 databases (30 gig)
Server3 - 2 databases (2 gig)
My questions are;
1. Are the stored procedures from 11.5 compatible with 12.5? Will
they work straight forward?
2. Are there any areas that I need to look at?
3. Are the dump database from 11.5 restorable to 12.5?
4. What are the minimun requirements of 12.5?
5. What is the best upgrade procedure to follow?

I am upgrading an 11.5.1 server to 12.5.2.
I ran the sqlupgrade utility in non-upgrade mode and fixed up the issues it
There is one remaining issue which I cannot fix.
The sqlupgrade utility say that I must set the "esp execution stacksize"
server parameter value to a min of 50000.
However when I attempt to change this on my 11.5.1 server I get the
following error message.

I was wondering what is the recommended path of the upgrade process from
220.127.116.11 to 12.5. We are also doing a Solaris 2.8 upgrade at the same time,
so the machine is going to be cleanly wiped out. The steps that I am
probably going to take are based on my previous experience of upgrading from
11 to 18.104.22.168
1. Take tape dumps of 22.214.171.124.
2. Upgrade Solaris to 2.8.
3. Install ASE 12.5
4. Load 126.96.36.199 databases in ASE 12.5
The databases are upgraded when the online database command issue. Is
this process okay. Please advice.

I am planning the migration from Sybase 11.5 to 12.5. Can someone point
me to some documentation on the subject?
I am particularly interested in documents that explain the best way to
migrate database objects (tables, indexes, etc...) and data.
Thanks in advance.

I need to upgrade my ASE 11.5.1 to either 12 or 12.5 (Solaris platform), my
question is if I should upgrade to 11.9.2 first or should I go straight to
12 or maybe even 12.5.
I plan on doing this on a test server first, followed by a development
server and finally a production server.

I have a question about the migration from ASE 11.5 on NCR to ASE 11.5 on

My question is, how can I do the data migration without the use of bcps and
DBArtisan? Exists another tool that leave me migrate the data more easy?

We have decided to move our consolidated DB to ASE 11.5 under NT 4.0 SP3.
Anyone out there done this?
For grins I unloaded the DB and tried running the SQL. Of course it's
Watcom SQL, not T-SQL.
Anyone have any ideas to help out before I write perl to massage the SQL?
Try opening your stored procedure in SQL Central as T-SQL. It might
provide the translation for you.
