Sun DiskSuite 4.2.1, Solaris 2.8 and ASE 12.0.0.4Does anybody use the combination menstioned in the subject? There is a
flag in DiskSuite that prevents Write-on-Write. That flag seems having a
huge impact on the write performance.
Would like to hear any advice you might have, thanks.
I was using the same exact configuration on an E3000 just a couple of weeks
ago, but I just upgrade ASE to 12.5.0.3.
This is my test server, so I don't worry that much about performance, but I
do notice that ASE is much slower on the E3000 than my production server
which is an E3500 with the same amount of memory, slightly faster CPU's, b...
SQLRemote Problem with 7.0.2-1 and 6.0.2-1 on Linux [ASE 11.9.2-3 and ASE 12.5 eval]Hi all

Upgrading from ASE (32-bit) 12.0.0.7 on Solaris 2.8 64-bit to ASE(64-bit) 12.5.1 on Solaris 64-bitHello all,
We are planning to upgrade our ASE servers from a 32-bit ASE 12.0.0.7 to
64-bit ASE 12.5.1 on Solaris 8. Could you please give what are the steps to
be taken care and how do I start with ( Do I have to first upgrade to
32-bit12.5.1 and then upgrade to 64-bit ASE 12.5.1, or directly upgrade from
32-bit 12.0.0.7 to 64-bit 12.5.1 ?).
Could you also please point to some documentation (about upgrading 32-bit
12.0.0.7 to 64-bit 12.5.1).
Thanks

Upgrade from ASE 11.9.x to ASE 12.5x on Solaris 2.6 #2Has anyone tried running ASE 12.5.0.3 on Solaris 2.6?
We have an upgrade scheduled from ASE 11.9.2x on Solaris 2.6
to ASE 12.5.0.3 on Solaris 2.8.
Prior to the Solaris upgrade, I would like to test and
estimate the required time for the ASE upgrade to 12.5.0.3.
So, this would be just a trial run.
Is this feasible? Any issues/tips/suggestions?
Thanks.

ASE 11.9.2 performance on Solaris 2.6 vs Solaris 8We have been running ASE 11.9.2 on Solaris 2.6 for last three years and it
seems fine. Lately we tested our applications (still built on Solaris 2.6)
on a faster machine running on Solaris 8. Every app runs 40% faster except
two key apps, which run even slower.
Hardware:
Old system: Sun Ultra 5, CPU 360 MHZ, RAM 128 MB, two EIDE 5400RPM hard
disks
Test system: Sun Blade 100, CPU 500 MHZ, RAM 128 MB, two EIDE 7200RPM hard
disks
11.9.2 configurations on both systems are the same. Three devices are used
on each system for master, sysprocsdev and userdata, and all are raw

ASE 12.0 HA on Sun Cluster 2.2We're trying to install ASE 12.0 with HA on Sun Cluster 2.2, followed all
the step, until 'sp_companion "primary_server_name", configure,
with_proxydb, null, sa, sapassword'
then got error 18737 (server not cluster configured), in sp_hacmpaccessvrfy.
It looks like ha_checkalive returned a bad status. Any ideas ?
Also, once script installhasvss is ran, it drops some stored procedures,
like sp_addserver, is that a bug ?

We would like to know some known performance issues with ASE 12.0.
If anyone have been using ASE 12.0 under Sun Solaris 2.6/2.7/2.8 and
if anyone have encountered any problems then please let us know.
Your feedback will be very very important for us . Your positive
feedback will give us more confidence to proceed further for upgrade.

What sort of recommendations? The parameters you alter would
depend on your local requirements - number of user connections,
number of engines, amount of memory to use etc.

migration ASA 6.0.2 to 8.0.2When a 6.0.2 database is loaded on 8.0.2 3601 engine, sybase central 4 try
to migrate it into 8.0.2: it seems to make an unload/reload.
Is the database in 8.0.2 format (real migration) ? It seems to be because I
can insert some events, create mail proc. , etc...
I just double checked. With 8.0.2.4215 the upgrade that Sybase Central does
is through an unload/reload.
