ANN: New Release of dbschema.pl (2.4.0)

I have just put a new release of dbschema.pl (2.4.0) up on to my site.
There are a number of changes with this release as well as quite a number
of bug fixes. A quick summary:

o Added the following new options:
--quiet Should be obvious! Overrides all -v's.
--for-sql-server Helps in the migration to M$ SQL Server.
--[no]references Toggles printing of foreign key references.
--target-db Specify database for 'use <database>' statement.
--exclude-db or -X Excludes databases from the list to be extracted.
o Improved the layout of the extracted code to try and ensure no 'extra'
lines are added to objects. (Some extraction tools add additional,
unwanted, blanks lines to the extracted code making comparison
    difficult.)
o Changed the way tables are extracted in 'for-compare' mode to make
    comparison more consistent.

See the CHANGES file (http://www.midsomer.org/dbschema/CHANGES) for a list
of the bug fixes, together with credit for the bug reports and fixes.

I know that I am going to get heck for the second option above, but hey, I
needed it, so it is there.

I have set up a new mailing list for dbschema (yeah I know that none of you
used it anyway, but it is intended as the means of me letting you know as
fast as possible that the feature you require is there). Anyway, the old
one (at Yahoo) was disabled because the traffic was so low. (It must be
the quality of the code!) Send email to dbschema-l-subscribe@midsomer.org
to subscribe.

I have tested the script using as many different versions of Sybase & Perl
that I can. Any and all feedback is always welcome.

For those that do not know, dbschema.pl is a Sybperl script for reverse
engineering an ASE database (in my opinion that is a bit like saying that
Lance Armstrong rides a bike for a living) It is very flexible in how it
works and has nearly as many command line switches as gnu tar!

Grab a copy from

    ftp://ftp.midsomer.org/pub/dbschema.tgz

or

    ftp://ftp.midsomer.org/pub/dbschema.zip

depending on your preference!

Enjoy!

David,

Hmmm.....are you encouraging people to migrate to M$SQL? ;-) You might want to
put in functionality to help in migrating from MS to ASE. There's been a number
of questions on that subject lately.

Why would I want to do that :-) :-) Seriously though, I don't have a
licence to use MS SQL Server and don't really have a machine to run it on.

update 2.0.0.4 does not work with my new 2.0.0.0
Name: Robert J Norton Email: bobatnortondotnet Product: Thunderbird Summary: update 2.0.0.4 does not work with my new 2.0.0.0 Comments: Each time I have installed update 2.0.0.4 I can't get my email for rjnorton@pacbell.net. The feed back states it can't find the pop server. I've reported this twice to the web master but that amounted to zilch. I've repeated this 2 times and each time I've had to reload 2.0.0.0 to get at my email. I am continually bombarded with .4 up dates which I now refuse to install again. So far, no one has reported a fix to me. ...
