There is backward compatibility with older perl versions that allowed {2,1=
}, the original subject of this bug report. However I think you are right =
that perl's regexp engine has never specified the exact backtracking behav=
iour, and reserves the right to make optimizations, so ${} is not guarante=
ed to be called in the same way. Like hash key ordering.=20
