ZENworks Patchlink issue...

Would anyone be able to help with the following???

We currently use patchlink to deploy patches to approximatly 1800 PC's.

We did have the patches required assigned as mandatory baselines however
reading various posts, news letters etc the patches should be deployed
using Group Deployments.

I have created a package, which is fine, however because we have machines
added all the time they dont automatically get the deployments I have
created as they where added to the User group we have after the scheduled
start time of the deployment!

Anyone able to tell me how to get around this, should I be re-scehduling a
new deployment and deleting the old? Or is there something I have missed?

Regards,
Paul

Jared,
Found this as well on the patchlink forums:
http://www.patchlink.com/forums/b.asp?m=8873

Covers not using mandatory baselines to deploy new patches only existing ones.

Jared,
Another for you from the patchlink for you:
http://www.patchlink.com/forums/thread.asp?m=8376

Looks like its to do with the ordering of patches as with a baseline you
cant control the order patches deploy, am guessing you can with Group
Depolyments, the only thing is this still aint helping me with the issue I
have with PC's being added to the custom group after the scheduled
deployment time. This prevents them from getting the patch, for some reason.

I was thinking that if a PC missed a scheduled time, it would pick up the
patch as soon as it found that it had missed the schedule.

I will check on this though.

Jared,
Thanks for your response, just to clarify, if I look inside the deployment
the PC object has a message on it that states it wont deploy as it was
added after the scheduled deployment time. This message appears to be a
system message from patchlink.

Zenworks Patch Management renewal issue
Hi All, This might seem like a dumb question, I have renewed on Patch Management license, and followed the steps that Shaun has posted on a previous post. And the license has appeared in my Patch man server and in the Customer centre on the website But the server is still claiming it is expired? It all looks fine to me (first time doing this new to Novell and Zenworks) except the Effective Date is the start of next month?? Could this be the issue? The license has expired so i'm currently running with Zenworks offline. Am i doing something wrong? Thanks -- g...

Patchlink vs Zenworks Patch Management
Like most you I quickly found out that ZPM was just a lite version of Patchlink. I then contacted them and after some review I can assure you all that Patchlink is better: -better support -more up to date product and definately CHEAPER (not going to go in details on that, ask your Patchlink rep) I really dont see any valide point at going with ZPM over Patchlink Interesting.. How did you come to the conclusion that ZPM is a lite version? Pricing: If you are an existing Novell customer then the price is usually less expensive from Novell. MLA, CLA, VLA, ALA discounts ...

Zenworks Patch Management/PatchLink 6.4
This weekend I updated out 6.3 system to the 6.4 software and everything seems to be working fine, except I can't find a package/vulnerabilities that shows the new agent (6.4.2.245) to be installed. Currently most of my agents are at 6.3.2.858. My Subscription Service History shows vulnerabilities/licenses/packages status as all complete and successful is True. I can install the new agent manually without problem. Anybody have any ideas what to try next? Pat, It appears that in the past few days you have not received a response to your posting. Upgrade from Zenwork 2 to Zenworks 4

I checked all the Novell documentation on how to do this and everything is ok for the upgrade to take place such as the correct version of Netware, E-Directory etc.. as well as the workstation (I'm using Windows XP Pro with Novell Client 4.91 SP2) that I'm installing Zenworks from is OK as well. I ran a DSREPAIR with no problems and the Time Synchronization is fine as well. I'm able to ping other servers in the tree as well with no problems. ...
