Patchworks not able to run on non english windows

I installed Patch Management on a german Windows 2000 Server SP3. When I try to start the Web browser application, I receive a 500 Internal Server Error. What can I do to correct this?

To obtain more information about this error i switched off the short error messages of IIS:

Internet Exlorer / Advanced: switch of "Show friendly HTTP error messages".

After switching off, we get the following error message:

WshShell.RegRead-Error 80070002

Invalid Root of Registry Key Hkml\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Time Zones\Westeuropische Normalzeit\Display

//Global.asa, line 37

If you look into file GLOBAL.ASA, you will find the following , chapter:

-------------------------------------------------------------

    Function getTimeZone()
        'FUNCTION:      getTimeZoneInfo()
        'DESCRIPTION: return the time zone description
        'AUTHOR:      Jonathan Gordon
        Dim WShell, sTimeZone, sInfo
        Set WShell = Server.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
        sTimeZone = CStr(WShell.RegRead("HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation\StandardName"))
        sInfo = "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones\"
        Select Case sTimeZone
            Case "Jerusalem Standard Time"
                sInfo = sInfo & "Israel Standard Time\Display"
            Case "Malay Peninsula Standard Time"
                sInfo = sInfo & "Singapore Standard Time\Display"
                       Case "Westeuropische Normalzeit"
                sInfo = sInfo & "W. Europe Standard Time\Display"
            Case Else
                sInfo = sInfo & sTimeZone & "\Display"
        End Select
        sInfo = CStr(WShell.RegRead(sInfo))
        Set WShell = Nothing
        getTimeZone = sTimeZone & " = " & sInfo
    End Function

----------------------------------------------------------------------

We inserted for alone the "Case "Westeuropische Normalzeit".

That depends on the language of the windows version.

You have to look in the registry keys to make it running.

So patchlink has not localized patchworks for german servers!

After this change in GLOBAL.ASA the web page is running and you can login. But after clicking on "Packages" you get the next error message "IE = wahr". The try to check, if the browser is IE, but the function gives back "wahr" instead of "true" and the browser check fails.

All in all it's a waste of time to fix it alone. Patchlink has to customize it.

Could Novell ask Patchlink to make it running on non english windows?

Best regards
Andreas

Running Windows Under Non-Admin Accounts
[quote] Everyone knows that one of the most important principles of network security is least privilege: grant ordinary users only those rights and permissions they need to get their work done and no more. For example, if ordinary users dont need access to sensitive data stored in the Accounting share, dont give them any permissions on that share, either through shared folder permissions on the share itself or NTFS permissions on the folder underlying the share... How to use regular expression or code to distinguish between non english character and non english escape charater.
This may not be the right place. I have a question: In ascii characters , a-z are all characters and the rest are all escape characters. We can use regular expression as \w and \W respectively. But in other languages like Japanese or Chinese have different type of full stop, but in regular expression they all related to \W including their characters. Is there a way in Regular expression or in c# code can distinguish between jap/chinese character and jap/chinese type escape character.  Hi Please go through this site which is fully meant for Regular Expre...

Unicode when using XE2 in a non-English Windows environment
Hi. I wonder if any of you ever encountered a problem when reading UTF8 files with BOM in a non-English Windows environment (e.g. Windows 7 with system locale set to Chinese, Traditional, Taiwan...). When compiled with DelphiXE - program recognizes these files without problems - right (Chinese) characters are generated. But when compiled with DelphiXE2 - program does not recognize UTF8 files with BOM, they consider everything as a single line instead of several lines. But on the other hand it works without problems when using English windows. Thanks in advance. Andrej wrote: >...
