Novell Client Deployment

I am attempting to deploy the Novell Client 3.4 to a Windows 98
workstation. When I view the package information it tell me the
following. "The basic information for the package has been replicated from
the host site. The entire distribution package has been requested, but has
not yet started to download".

I first attempted to deploy this package last week. How long should it
take? Is the metadata available for this client? Thanks.

Problems deploying Netware Client out with Zenworks
I am having troubles deploying Netware client out to workstations that haven't been registered on the NDS. I have made up the unattend.txt file and test the file on a workstation with admin rights, it installs the Netware Client no problems. Now I assigned a scheduled action policy to a user package. The problems I am having is that when I do an impersonation as a system user, the installation won't run, then I went to the workstation manager scheduler and did a run now and got an error saying User does not have admin rights. If I make user an administrator of the loca...

Patches, patches, patches...
To forestall potential incidents of Warnock's Dillemma... I'm about to apply a whole heap 'o patches to Parrot. (With appropriate [APPLIED] responses, I hope) If, at the end of the day, I have *not* applied or commented on a patch you've sent, it means I've Officially Missed It, so give another try. Sorry 'bout this. Too much mail in the mailbox, and going back in time is tricky, as it can miss subsequent discussions on patches 'n stuff. -- Dan --------------------------------------"it's like th...

Where are the ZENworks Patch Management server patches at?
According to this URL: http://www.novell.com/support/dynamickc.do?externalId=3540830&sliceId=SAL_Public&command=show&forward=nonthreadedKC&kcId=3540830 ZENworks Patch Management Patch 5 is out....I must be way behind because I still have the base product installed. Where are these patches at? I cannot seem to find any of them on Novell's website. Applying these patches could very well fix my issue with my server not being able to contact novell.patchlinksecure.net as well as the issue we are having regarding the Discovery Agent using vast amounts of client CPU...

Patch still showing up as not being patched in vulnerability list, yet, when you look at deployment report, shows it being patched successfully??
Hey hoping someone out there has seen this, and has some answer for me. I have a customer who's patch server seems to be running great except for one issue. There are some machines, that show random patches as being vulnerabilities yet, if you look at the deployment report, it shows the patch has been deployed successfully? I'm confused by this. One thing i did notice is if i take a look at one of these patches, for example, the "Deployment Test and Diagnostic Package" if i click on it, it shows the particular computer as not being patched and an analysis da...

Compression Custom Patch Zenworks Patch Management
Hello, Please I am testing Custom Patch ZPM 6.4, My problem is I don't know how many compress file. Please someone knows this, Please tell me. Regardess Ricardo Seris Guerra -- Ricardo_Seris ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ricardo, are you asking how to compress your files? In a custom package you would have to do this yourself, perhaps use winzip to compress, then use a script to decompress at the workstation. To make this automatic, you would need to buy the PDK (Patch Development Kit) -- Shaun Pond ...

Patches, patches, patches... #2
OK, this is advance warning that I'm about to be reposting a bunch of patches of mine which appear to have succumbed to Warnock's Dilemma. The first three should be uncontroversial: there's a documentation fix-up for core.ops, and new tests for strings and stacks. The last one is rather larger, and consists of a greatly expanded set of tests for PerlString's, plus a bunch of bug-fixes. I'd be grateful if Jeff or Dan could take a look at this, as I have the feeling that a lot of the scalar PMCs are going to need similar fixes. Simon ...

Client 4.83 vs Client 4.91 with Zenworks
My question is kind of long but I will try to shorten it and have it make sense. Ok, here it goes.... I have 3 servers running Netware 6.0 sp4 and 1 running NW 6.5 sp2. 2 of the 4 servers have Zenworks for Desktops 4.0.1 on them patched. My question is why is it that the servers with the older Zenworks 3.2 patched can only use the clients for 98se as 3.32 and xp/2000 4.83 And the two with Zenworks 4.0.1 the XP/2000 systems can use the 4.90 clients and the Win98Se clients can use the 3.40 clients? If I try to use the newer clients on the older servers I cannot access my ap...

Patches not deploying
In preparing to move this patch management solution from testing to our production environment I have noticed a problem. When Microsoft released that last batch of patches, the first machine I tested them on was my desktop. I scheduled the deployment for 6/15/2006 at 11:00 P.M. and when I came into work the next day I checked and saw that the patches deployed properly. I then proceeded to deploy them to my test users. When I checked the next day, I saw that the packages had not been deployed. Here is an example from one of the test machines. When I clicked on the Vulnerab...

Client deployment
Does anyone have any solution for deploying the 6.5 clients. We just upgraded to 6.5 sp1 and now I have to deploy the clients. Our users log into W2K servers, not Novell. Management does not want ZEN. The desktops (all W2K) are locked down, so the auto update feature of GroupWise won't work. Thank you for any ideas. sounds like great management there.... no zen, machines are locked down to the point setup.cfg wont work. guess youll have to try pushing down via gpo, maybe make an msi out of it (see previous posts on doing that). You could always walk ...

Deploy Patches
I am using the 90 days trial version to see how it goes, I am using 3 computers with agents installed already, and I get the updates , I could see the computers etc, etc, everything seems to be ok, but when I comes to deploy the updates, it seems like is either not communicating porpertly, or is some issues with it, becuase it shows that is a package scheduled to deploy but it seems like is taking for ever and I am not getting no messages like I suppouse to, in the worksations (windows xp sp2), letting know that updates are beeing deploy. Do I have to set a port in the compute...

After patch is deployed
When I deploy a patch that requires a reboot am I able to keep deploying patches to that machine before I reboot it, or do I have to reboot the machine first in order to deploy any new patches? Thanks Jason If the patch supports chaining, then you can push out multiple patches before the computer will require a reboot. Not all patches support chaining and some will require a reboot even with chaining enabled. You can set this option during the deployment setup. Even if you deploy patches that don't support chaining, the computer will pick it up after the reboot, so y...

Client deployment
Have GW7 SP1 on NW OES 6.5 SP5. How can I deploy GW7 SP1, build 722, clients to 400+ pc's? Clients installed currently are 6.0.3 version. No Zen. Have AD. What kinks am I going to come across using AD? Would be using Zen, but not my choice. SETUPIP or SETUP.CFG would be two options, both searchable in knowledgebase. <gtyler@question.com> wrote in message news:zyZJg.467$2t2.399@prv-forum2.provo.novell.com... > Have GW7 SP1 on NW OES 6.5 SP5. > > How can I deploy GW7 SP1, build 722, clients to 400+ pc's? > Clients installed currently are 6.0.3 ver...

Deployment of Client
Hi There! I would like to silently hand out the client as an upgrade from 6.5 to 12 workstations. I also need to set default configurations like open instead of view sent items, open new browser window instead of using existing windows, creation of a folder in each users login, and perhaps a rule or two. Are these things possible? if so how? Hi Silent install can be done via the setup.cfg file. Edit this file saving it into the WIN32 directory. The using Zen create a NAL with a force run or add the command for setup.exe into the login script. If doing this why may be b...
