Netware Agent Installation

I installed PatchLink on a Windows 2000 Server with key 934BA352-9515375A to do some tests. I installed agents on 2 workstations and everything works fine. I try to install Netware agent on my Netware 6 SP3 server. When the agent starts, after a few seconds, I receive the following message:

Request status
Parsing REGISTRATION reply

Reply Status
Agent registration reply format is invalid. Failed to find RC.
***** Unable to continue. Press a key to exit. *****

The agent have registered but still offline in the PatchManagement console.

What can I do to correct this problem ?

This initial release of Patch Management is focused on Windows only.
The NW agent support is not yet enabled, but will be included with the
updated version of ZPM that ships with ZENworks 6.5 next month. I had
the same issue.

Hope this helps,

Andy

Please make sure your TCP/IP settings are correct for ip address, gateway
and dns server name (you have a valid IP address, your DNS server is
listed in RESOLV.CFG and that your GATE statement is present in your BIND
statement in NETINFO.CFG). Verify that you can PING the update server by
name (or address) before trying to install the agent.

You must always register novell agents using either a DNS name or an IP
ADDRESS. Obviously the WINS name of your Novell ZENworks Update Server
won't function.

On NetWare 6, you will need to make sure you are running with a set of
WinSock NLMS that work - from NW6 SP2, or earlier versions:

The files must be copied to your C:\NWSERVER directory

WSPDSI.NLM 4/18/02
WSPIP.NLM 4/29/02
WSPIPX.NLM 4/19/02
WSPSSL.NLM 4/18/02
WS2_32.NLM 6/12/02

If you use WINSOCK2 files from later support packs, you will receive this
error. Novell is aware of the issue. You'll find other debug tips at
www.patchlink.com in the forums section.

I verify my C\NWSERVER files and they're all from XX\XX\2003. I have a Netware 6 SP3 server.

I checked my NETINFO.CFG. The settings are OK but I have 2 IP bindings. One for my external network (172.18.77.10) and one for my internal network (172.27.77.10) where my update server is (172.27.77.99). Which one must I bind first ? There is an importance in the bind order ?

I installed my netware agent by using DNS name of my Update server.

Still getting the same error and sometimes my Netware server abend on PHTTP.NLM.

Something else I can do ?

I've installed this on a test machine and now when I try and log in i get a second login box. First Netware Zenworks Install
Greetings all, I'm trying out Netware and Zenworks for my company, and we are trying to create a sample network before we commit to purchasing the product. Basically, are goals are to provide 1 stop files server access to users so they can access files from any computer within our 10 branches. Additionally, we would like to have complete control of the desktops so that we can push out new updates and images on a weekly basis, and hopefully reduce the malware overhead we are currently dealing with. In short, I'm wondering if there are any cookbookss or HOWTO's to crea...

Installing the Patch Management Agent
I need to force an install of the Agent to all of my computers. They already have an older Agent on them. The problem is that some people have disabled the DAgent because it was slowing their computer down so much they could not work. This makes it hard for me to force the new agent down using PatchLink. I was wondering if there is switches on the .msi that will make it force a install over the old Agent and add the IP of the server along with the serial number? That way I could use ZFD 7 to distribute the new Agent. If there is a better way please don't hesitate to let me...
