Patches, patches, patches...To forestall potential incidents of Warnock's Dillemma...
I'm about to apply a whole heap 'o patches to Parrot. (With
appropriate [APPLIED] responses, I hope) If, at the end of the day, I
have *not* applied or commented on a patch you've sent, it means I've
Officially Missed It, so give another try.
Sorry 'bout this. Too much mail in the mailbox, and going back in
time is tricky, as it can miss subsequent discussions on patches 'n
stuff.

Where are the ZENworks Patch Management server patches at?According to this URL:

ZENworks Patch Management Patch 5 is out....I must be way behind because I
still have the base product installed. Where are these patches at? I
cannot seem to find any of them on Novell's website. Applying these
patches could very well fix my issue with my server not being able to
contact novell.patchlinksecure.net as well as the issue we are having
regarding the Discovery Agent using vast amounts of client CPU...
Client Connection / Licensing problem with full licenseHi,
I am running Novell Netware 5.1 on a small business network, and although
I have purchased the full server license and have 30 client licenses,
errors seem to occur that are only solved if I uninstall and reinstall the
licenses.
The client machines begin having problems logging into the server and
being able to access shared drives on the server that they have capture
mapped on their machine.
In NWADMIN the license object on the main tree seems to have a question
mark next to it, could this be the source of the problem?
Oddly enough this only seems to have happened si...

Ricardo,
are you asking how to compress your files? In a custom package you
would have to do this yourself, perhaps use winzip to compress, then
use a script to decompress at the workstation. To make this automatic,
you would need to buy the PDK (Patch Development Kit)

Patches, patches, patches... #2
OK, this is advance warning that I'm about to be reposting a bunch
of patches of mine which appear to have succumbed to Warnock's Dilemma.
The first three should be uncontroversial: there's a documentation fix-up
for core.ops, and new tests for strings and stacks. The last one is
rather larger, and consists of a greatly expanded set of tests for
PerlString's, plus a bunch of bug-fixes. I'd be grateful if Jeff or Dan
could take a look at this, as I have the feeling that a lot of the
scalar PMCs are going to need similar fixes.

client licenseHello, i'am aware that there a 2 type of licenses. The Full and the Limited
licese mailbox. If you richt click the Domain object and click Information,
you see who many license of full and limited there are availible.
I implemented 3 months ago the option that user can only use the limeted
lices mailbox. If i look udner the information option of the domain, i still
see that i use 290 full liceses. Is there a way to reset this mumber or will
this degrade after a coulpel of day's (e.g. 90 days).
Thanx Dave Simons
It should indeed reset soon. I believe 90 days is correct.

Client LicensingWhat is the licensing arrangement for Groupwise Clients?
The licensing model is on the number of Mailboxes and not the client.
that way an individual can have multiple machines that all point to
the same mailbox.

Zenworks licensing, ??Well, as much as I understand from these forum's, then;
1. Zenworks itself isn't a "biggie" since when the product is
activated, it's working.
So, updated and increased no# of users in a new license/order from
Novell doesn't matter...??
2. PatchManagement;
Found the tid that states;
- using existing code or;
- generate new code.
Generate new code sounds like a bad idead according to the tid as one
would have to re-install everything....
So,WERE to find the "existing code" ?
It's not in Zen adminpage...( at least I can't find i...
Full license client access to limited license mailbox deniedWhen any user logs in to GW 6.5 via client, gets this return message:
Full license client access to a limited license mailbox has been
denied.
I tweaked some settings a while ago, but just recently restarted the
server. The problem happened as soon as the server and the GW agents
were restarted.
WebAccess still works great and everyone can log in.
Help!

Never mind. For some reason, the client settings were set at "Limited
License" at the Post Office level. The only person who could have

client licensesDo I have to install the client licensees for NetWare6 on Border Manager?
If I do, how many?
Thank you.
This depends on your usage of the server.
If the clients load clntrust from other servers and therefore never
make a licensed connection to the BM server (Proxy traffic does not
count) then all you need is a server license.
If they connect they need to be licensed, but in NetWare 6.x that
license comes from the tree and therefore your users would be
licensed, unless people are not logging in to a tree...

Client 4.83 vs Client 4.91 with ZenworksMy question is kind of long but I will try to shorten it and have it make
sense. Ok, here it goes....
I have 3 servers running Netware 6.0 sp4 and 1 running NW 6.5 sp2.
2 of the 4 servers have Zenworks for Desktops 4.0.1 on them patched.
My question is why is it that the servers with the older Zenworks 3.2
patched can only use the clients for 98se as 3.32 and xp/2000 4.83
And the two with Zenworks 4.0.1 the XP/2000 systems can use the 4.90
clients and the Win98Se clients can use the 3.40 clients?
If I try to use the newer clients on the older servers I cannot access my

client licensesAre NW6 licenses different than NW5 licenses on the user side? I am
running a 5.1 server with about 50 user licenses I want to install a
NW 6
server in my exsisting tree. It will be the same amount of users I
just
want to know if the users licenses are the same accross the board.
Also
in 6 does NDPS use a license as well as the printers?
Thanks,

Client licensingIf use the GroupWise client to access only a POP e-mail based system such
as Hotmail or GMail do I need to purchase a license for the GroupWise
client?
Yes, GroupWise is licensed per mailbox. Only if you only ever use
the Webaccess interface (like hotmail which has no POP3) do you get a
discounted (wireless) price for the mailbox.
