10.2.2->10.3 Works, just 10.3 install doesn't

I have a very odd issue. If i install 10.2.2 and then upgrade it to
10.3 through the system update deployment, everything works fine.
If i try to install 10.3 on a fresh machine without installing 10.2.2
first it starts failing on things like downloading DAU, downloading
group policy files, etc.

Any ideas? I have run the post-10.3 patch after installing it the day
it came out. I have rebuilt my preagent packages.....still not
working...

Primary Server 1 10.3 Win2k8
Primary Server 2 10.3 Linux VMware appliance

clients are all windows xp sp3

same problem here I've just noticed. I'm going to just install 10.2.2

hmm, just restarted the zenworks server service in windows and it came
good. I've made a lot of changes lately since the 10.3 upgrade so it
might have gone a bit silly.

Actually you're not too far off. A lot of folks report wacky ZENworks
issues after a 10.3 upgrade. Upon being at their last strand of hair to
pull, they reboot and all of a sudden the problems "go away" for the
most part.

These machines have been restarted a lot so i don't think my issue is
the same.
It's frustrating because with my 10.2.2, pass through auth to zenworks
stopped working so users only get workstation assigned bundles. So i
can't even put the 10.2.2 client in the image and worry about upgrading
later.

Are you running an embedded sybase DB? If so have you run the upgrade
on it?

How about closest server rules. Do you have any defined which could
impact downloading of policies?

I would think then that something happens during the MSI installation of
the ZCM Policy Handler. I've heard scattered reports of Symantec and
McAfee killing it... but i'm sure you tried a from scratch install w/o
AV.

Your event viewer for Win and the message log in ZCM for the managed
device say nothing?

You could also try on a 10.2.2 box... zac unr. then UNinstall the
ZENagent all together. Then reboot and immediately reinstall ZEN agent
10.3. (don't reload machine) If the error happens THEN, you know that
policy handler MSI is corrupted. I can send you that MSI and then you
can recompile the agent deployment payload.

-OR- to circumvent the above process, just try installing the agent
from your *other* primary server. See if it's a matter of being
corrupted from your primary ZCM box.

As a last resort you could try deleting your User Source and re adding
it to your Primary. But that's a shot in the dark.

I have tried installing 10.3 from both primaries. One is a win2k8 box
that was upgraded from 10.2.2(and shows massive files missing with the
ZDC). The other is the 10.3 vm appliance that was added as a secondary
after the 10.3 update....I have mostly focused on testing with the
appliance's packages since it seems to be working the best overall....
I have another issue now, my work around doesn't even work now.
The 10.3a update disappeared from my system updates so i redownloaded
it and it immediately went to baselined, even though a ton of my
machines don't have it yet. Now all the 10.2.2 machines show error for
the 10.3 system update and there is no way for me to update them!!!
grrrr

Update 10.3.2 to 10.3.3 on primary server (sles 10) fails?
we tried to upgrade from 10.3.2 to 10.3.3 on the primary server first (Sles 10 SP3). Although the deployment stage reported success - the server shows still 10.3.2 for ZCM, ZAM und ZPM. we then tried to deploy 10.3.3 for one win7 sp1 workstation - with success. so, what can be done to bring the primary server to 10.3.3 or is it just showing the wrong version? 10.2.2 -> 10.3.1
Besides most things going NOT as designed in the upgrade, we believe we're updated to 10.3.1 for Primary and Sat's, Noticed behaviour; Clients still at 10.2.2 works so far. Sat's updated to 10.3.1 can do Zen login, but must do so through the login/pop app from zen. Client's that (by mistake and/or test) was updated to 10.3.1 can NOT login regardless of clearing cache, etc on the local WS. They simply have to be used logged in to the network but NOT zenworks. emerson.nospam@charger.se;2009494 Wrote: > Besides most things going *NOT* as designed i...

10.2.2 to 10.3.2 upgrade path
Hi, What is the recommended way to upgrade 10.2.2 to 10.3.2? 1. Upgrade primaries and satelittes to 10.3.0a via SU, manually selecting the servers 2. Upgrade primaries, satelittes and devices to 10.3.2 via SU and stages. Do I need to upgrade all the devices with 10.3.0a before going to 10.3.2 or will the 10.3.2 upgrade do this for me as long as the 10.3.0a update is downloaded and available?
