Error reading file Q-00D8.SYS Netware 4.10
This error just popped up on the console after a reboot: Error reading file Q-00D8.SYS offset 00000118h data stream 0 Read was requested by the SERVER File path SYS:SYSTEM\D8000001.QDR\Q_00D8.SYS Any idea what the heck it means? Also it is beeping every second or something like that.... Is it about to die? It has been running with no additional errors all day. Thanks!

Down the server properly and restart and it should go away. I am going to pick up the server today to take a look at it. Probably going to replace it with a linux box running Samba. If I run into a problem with this error I will post an update. Thanks!

Actually, Novel Suse Linux Pro 9.2 Any unforseen problems I might encounter? Update the Novell 4.10 box, the hard drive does have some bad spots, I am getting block redirected errors. There is so far only 1 file I need to copy from that box, and I cannot get it to complete. I am going to attempt to pull it from backup tapes, but I wish there was some other way. Arcserve is bombing about because of that Q-00D8 file error, so I am going to have to attempt to fix that first before I can get arcserve to work right.

If the hard drive has bad spots on it, you might not be able to recover from that except by tape. Then again, I suspect the hardware is old enough that hard drive failure is something one might plan on. - Barry Schnur Novell Support Connection Volunteer Sysop

Hi all, Does anyone know a way of forcing Netware 4.11 to use IP instead of IPX as its preferred protocol? After removing IPX support from our netware 6 boxes, our netware 4.11 box can no longer communicate. I would have thought that it would attempt to use IP instead of IPX... Hi, we have 5 netware 4.11 servers. 2 are in the main office and 3 are in external offices, connected via vpn (DSL). The 2 servers in the main office are in tree1, the other 3 servers have there own 3 trees. One of the servers in the main office runs nw4saa and hostprint and we have to keep this running approx. 8-10 months. Hello All, We are trying to copy files from a Netware 6.5 server (SP6) to a newer NetWare 6.5 (SP7) server. We are copying an entire volume, VOL1. The source server has a 33GB volume with about 4GB of free space. When we start the copy the disk space on the source server drops and eventually the copy stops when space on the source server runs out. The destination servers volume is 200GB, so I have no idea why the source server is running out of space. We are doing the copy from a Windows XP PC, and to me it looks like the Netware server is doing some type of caching but not ...
