The 7.0.1 client on a new XP SP2 machine, closes just as the splash screen
appears. When you double-click either grpwise.exe or notify.exe (shortcut
or actual file) you see the .exe list in task managers processes for 1 or
2 seconds. During the 1 or 2 seconds, you see the GW splash screen.
After the two seconds the splash screen closes. You never make it to a
login. Any local account on that workstation has the same issue.
The Novel Client is 4.91 SP2 with all the latest update patches. The XP
firewall is turned off and no errors are found in the Event Viewer. In

When I install Netware client for Windows XP SP1 or SP2, I can not print
to a network printer connected to a workstation with Windows 98. I tried
to install Client ver 4.8, 4.9 SP1 and 4.9 SP2, but they did not work and
I still can not print through the network.
Please could anyone help me if he faced this problem before.
Do you have NDPS or the iPrint client installed?
Can you verify its not a service/IP port conflict?
No I do not have NDPS or iprint, and there is no conflict.

We run a database program that is having problems with the Netware
client. Data corruption and performance are a problem.
So, I tested the Microsoft Netware client vs. the Novell client and I am
getting much better performnace from the Microsoft client. The Micorsoft
client is 60 times faster during a 'post data' function. This translates
from 15 seconds for Microsoft to 15 minutes for Novell!
Is there anything I can do to speed up the Novell Client?

This is a crosspost as I had no luck with my posting in the GW7 Client
I am having the issue with more users, and it is definitely tied
to the Novell Client, as it goes away if you uninstall the Novell Client
(which is not really a solution). Yes, I have tried the latest 4.91 sp3
client and it makes no difference.
Do I need to open an incident ? I cannot believe no one else is having this
problem, as we have seen it in over a dozen cases so far.

Random issue, when I preform unattended installs of Groupwise 7, on varous

have any ideas?
It appears that in the past few days you have not received a response to your

Has your problem been resolved? If not, you might try one of the following options:

One of the staff wanting to re-install the G/W Client onto a Windows XP
W/S had problems running setup.exe whether from SDD or from client CD.
When executing NOTHING happens, nada, zero.
I have seen that he had unistalled the incumbent client before starting
the attempt. Nothing for G/W shows in the Add/Remove control panel section.
And to me it does not seem to want to run setup although other setups work
from other applications.
I have download and attempted to remove anything from G/W from W/S such as
CleanIt (demo version) and still nothing happens. I went back to other

Oops; somehow I posted the message without text.
At any rate, I'd like to accomplish the simplest installation possible of
the Novell Client for XP Pro and a NW5.0SP6A server. We're converting to
IP, which is already bound in the server, and the XP Pro clients already
have TCP/IP installed, as they access the 'net thru a premises DHCP router.
We've had lots of problems with the latest Client (4.91 SP2), and it looks
like way more than we need. I'm installing 4.83 SP3, but we've still had
problems like the dreaded "Tree or server not found" e...
