Wrong forum, but - Moving ZFD4.01?

Hi,

I have a ZEN server, from way back in time, that has been a work horse,
churing away, providing desktop remote control, inventory, and workstation
policies, for years.
It is a very old bit of hardware, running NW6.

I want to simply get rid of this ancient hardware, and want to know what I
can do to retain ZEN? I am not sure if I even have any media for ZEN? Is it
even still available?

I want to move all the ZEN components off this server, remove it from Edir,
and bring it up on an existing NW6.5 SP8 server (another box, obviously
different name!)

What are my options?
Thanks, Alan

Why make your life so unnecessarily complicated? It's *MUCH* easier to
simply upgrade the existing server to current versions of Netware and
Zen, and then migrate it over to new Hardware. Or possibly even
virtualize it (Zen servers are perfect candidates to run in a VM).
There's totalyl no need nor benefit from redoing everything from
scratch.

I suppose I should of mentioned in my earlier post then, that ZENWorks 4.01
was all paid for, as was NetWare 6.5... We no longer maintain our NetWare
products, apart from GroupWise, so are not entitled to any upgrades! Or am I
missing a trick here?

No, but what has that to do with the proper way to move whatever you
have licensed to new hardware? Except that you obviously can't update
Zen, my comment is equally valid. I still fail to understand what your
perceived benefit is from starting over from scratch, if all you want to
do is update the OS and chnage the hardware?

As per my original post, I already have an existing NW6.5 server (WebAccess,
netstorage, and archived data), which I want to keep. It's already built on
fairly modern hardware. Hence my reasoning behind de-commisioning the ZEN
box.
But I suppose I could do away with the other NW6.5 server, upgrade ZEN to
that box, then restore the data and web apps.

So, to clarify, is there no way of taking the ZEN services, objects, and
it's data, and putting them on another NW6.5 server (different name and IP),
without re-installing ZEN?

Cheers, Alan

Does Zen keep its objects locally or in NDS?

Upgrading/Installing Zfd4.01 problem, can't complete installation.
Hello. NW 6.5 Small Business Suite Server, SP 4. Updated Zen 2 to Zen for Desktops 3. Trying to update Zfd3 to Zfd4.01. This is my problem: I select the "Zenworks for Desktop Server"-option, press "Next", "Accept" etc. all the way to the "Select Target Server to which Zenworks for Desktops will be installed". I then select my server and mark all but "XML Proxy Services". Unfortunately the "Finish"-button is greyed out, so I have no way of actually completing the installation. ZFD4.01 Fresh Install
I have just setup a new Netware 6 sp3 server win Zfd4.01 with latest sp. Just wondering how are you suppose to add NDPS printers to the workstation policy? Zfd3.2 had that and client policy why did they take that away. I don't think people would like to be forced away from NDPS printing and be forced to use IPP. I don't have plans on using IPP in many of our situations. Thanks Rej ZfD 4.0.1 doesn't ship with support for traditional NDPS printers. If you need to deploy them, you need to have ZfD 3.2 in your environment, along with the ZfD 3.2 Console...

NetWare 6.5 install/upgrade
Hello Everyone, A few years ago I took a class on NetWare and decided I wanted to give it a try again. I installed it and got it running but i wanted to upgrade it to SP7. I Installed SP7 and it broke all sorts of things (Apache, iManager). I realized it was probably not a good Idea to go right to SP7 and I've decided to start over with a fresh install. Form there i will start with SP1 and move up to SP7. So here is my question... 1. Where can i find SP1 (and SP2-SP4) since I cant find it on Novell.com? 2. Would it be a problem to update right to SP4 or SP5 (Im assuming yes ...

Wrong NetWare version reported after upgrade
Hi I colleague upgraded a NetWare server from 5 to 6.5 some time back. It seemed to work ok, but I've never been entirely convinced about it - occasional slow response times, etc During a ZenWorks 7 upgrade, I noticed that the ZenWorks install reported this server as version 5 On investigation, I found that the Version number for the server object in ConsoleOne is reported as Novell NetWare 5.00.09[DS] 6.5 SP2 is listed in the list of available products on this server, so I'm confident 6.5 was installed and is running (so is my colleague). Should I be worried a...
