No. Upgrading from 5.0 to 6.5 on the same machine is not supported. The
installation program will simply refuse the upgrade. If you want to do
an in place upgrade to from 5.0 to 6.5, you have to upgrade to 5.1 or
6.0 first and then upgrade to 6.5.
In any case, I would not recommend an in place upgrade to 6.5. The main
issue will be the file syste,. On your NW 5.0 server, all your volumes
are probably traditional volumes. However NetWare 6.5 is not very happy
with traditional volumes, and many components (like NFAP for instance)
will not work at all on traditional volumes. Doing a migration to new
hardware is typically the most painless way to migrate from traditonal
volumes to NSS. An additional advantage will be that you start with a
clean SYS volume rather than carrying along a huge load of legacy NLMs
and configuration files.
