Replacing Crashed Server w/ new w/ same ID# and name
I am installing a Netware 5 server to replace a Netware 5 server that has crashed. Since it will perform the same funtions as the one it is replacing I thought I would just leave the old server containers in the Tree. This way once it is installed it will be ready to go. Problem is, when installing I get to the NDS Installation phase and it hangs. I am also getting two Novell Message Popups on another server. The first being: POLICY MANAGER - The NLS licensing services are not available on Server SC_WG. Please make sure the NLSLSP.NLM is loaded. Error # C0001003. The next being: POLICY MANAGER - The Server SV_WG is running without a Server Base license. Please install a Server Base license. Please install a Server Base license immediately to stay in compliance with the license agreement for the server. I am confused. Should I remove the old instance of the server from the tree and let it install a new instance? Name it something else with a different IP and then once it is stood up migrate the users and groups from old to new? Run some sort of repair utility. I really have no idea and no experience with Netware 5. In advance thanks to anyone who can help me. Those two errors are solely to do with licensing and nothing to do with the server objects. You will have to install the server license on this new server, once the eDir issues are resolved. That's said, you cannot expect the server installation process to just take over the existing objects that related to another physical server. > Should I remove the old instance of the server from the tree and let it > install a new instance? From what I can remember...I am almost certain you need to remove the Old server objects and Volume objects. They will be recreated when you install the server into the tree. Now, about your licensing...you don't have a license in the tree? Take a look with nwmanager or ConsoleOne...you should be able to find it...if it is not in the root, then check elsewhere. If not, you will need to manually install the license to the server. C1 can do this, I beleive, as well as NWMgr. You might also want to check where you master license server is...is it the one that crashed? You're coing to have to reinstall that as well. There are plenty of TIDs and docs on Novell Support to point you in the right direction on that. We are receiving 24 new servers in the next month. All the servers have to be loaded with Netware 6.5 and then will be distributed to 24 locations replacing Netware 5.1 servers. We are planning on a migration of the data on the Netware 5.1 servers. What is the best way to get all the servers loaded with Netware 6.5? They will all be identical hardware. new dnn on a hosted server w/ sql server
Hello all, I have created a blank database, setup a user for that database, copied all of the DNN files to the web root, modified the connection string of the web.config and when I go to run the website to setup the portal, all I get is an error about customErrors message telling me to set it to Off. The weird thing is the code in the web.config file is already in there and it is correct. I have setup several local copies of the DNN portal and I did nothing different. Apparently the answer, at least w/ the W2k3 server as configured out of the box, is no. What, if anything, must I do in order for the Windows server to see the Netware servers? I would like to avoid installing a Novell client on the Windows server just because it will add a layer of complexity I'd like to avoid, but if that's the only way, please let me know.
