to Proxy or not to Proxy ?
Hi all, Could I ask for some opinions regarding using a proxy ? Here in the UK, I use Freeserve as my dial-up ISP. There is a web-cache proxy available for use if required, tho' IE6 works fine with or without (a small increase in page loads occurs if I use the proxy). The problem is, that if I use the proxy, then my Outpost Firewall logs only register connections to it, so I suffer from a serious lack of information about where my browser connections are going and what I could block (like adclick connections etc). I'm really not sure about the merits of with/without the pr...

Proxy to proxy
Hi. We use BM 3.8 as a proxy server and the main task is to restrict which url's the users can use. In the network there is another proxy server with internet access. Is it possible to setup BM to use another proxy server to connect to internet? And if yes, how ? Magne Absolutely. Search under "Cache Hierarchy Client". Basically....enable the client on the BM box, add you upstream proxy (Neighbor Hostname) add the correct port for the type of upstream proxy, add the type of proxy, usually you can just leave the priority at "1". looks like this...

GroupWise 6.5 POA as Internet Proxy (no, not _via_ a proxy, but *as* a proxy)
I have a client who wants to make four GroupWise POAs accessible to remote Internet users via one public IP address through their BorderManager server. We have come across several posts claiming that GroupWise 6.5 has a *new* feature that allows the POA to *act as a proxy* for other POAs - this means we could open *one* port on the firewall that every outside GroupWise client could connect to. This port would be redirected to *one* (special purpose?) POA that would then act *as* another Proxy and forward requests on the clients behalf to the destination POA. I understand the tradi...

Multi-User Calendar & Proxy List (adding proxy users)
In GroupWise 6.5 when adding users/calendars (that are not currently in the Proxy list) to a multi-user calendar, the item would automatically be added to the Online/Proxy menu for quick access. In GroupWise 7, it does not add them to the Online/Proxy list when they are added, you still need to add them manually. Just wondering if this is working as desired in this version, or if it's a defect. Thanks ...

Proxied user cannot change proxy rights
Hi all, I have an issue where proxied users cannot change proxy rights, or add/remove proxy users even if they have been given proxy rights to modify options/rules/folders. Per TID 10085054 this capability was just added in GW6. We're on 6.0.4, so I'm a little confused why this isn't working. Logging into the mailbox as the actual user allows normal add/remove/modification proxy capabilites. Thanks. GroupWise Client Proxy

Hi Sang, Depends what attribute is the search attribute for contextless login. This is what you need to give Read rights for the LDAP proxy. By default it is the CN. Proxy to another user gives that user's addressbook
When doing a proxy in WebAccess to another user, the addressbook for that user's mailbox view is the actual addressbook of that user. In the online GWclient, installed on the workstation, it stays the addressbook of yourself. Does anyone know whether this is as designed or is something else the matter ? I understand that the addressbook for a local installed client is a seperate .exe file, therfor doing a proxy to another user does not change the addressbook. -- Gert > Does anyone know whether this is as designed or is something else the matter > ? Groupwise Archive and User Proxy
Hi, I was just wondering what the default was for the groupwise client for archiving. If Archiving is setup, when a user proxies to another account with archiving does he or she start the archiving process and e-mails will be archived to the default location of the client or the proxy client or are proxy users prevented from doing this. The Novell Documentation for GRP 6 mentions an Archive Items option in the Groupwise proxy, although from the example in the documentation and from the clients I have used I have never seen this option before, link is http://www.novell.com/d...

Groupwise client Proxy server
We are experienceng some difficulty with sporatic connection issues for groupwise clients that come accross the internet to connect to our post office. Generally the client goes into a "not responding mode". we can't seem to see a consistent pattern on what is causing it. I was wondering if setting up a Proxy server for that connection would help. I see the instructions for what to do in the post office setup, but I am at a loss on how to set up a proxy server. How would it be different than a static NAT on my firewall? Also, for what it is worth, I see UDP tr...

Proxy users listed multiple times in Proxy Access List
I have a user who has proxy rights to several user's mailboxes. Each user that has granted her proxy rights is listed 5- 10 times in her Proxy Access List. I've tryed deleting all proxy access name. We've taken proxy rights away and granted them again. I patched GW to 6.51. I applied TID 10055717 (the proxyfix) GWCheck option and we can't get rid of the multiple entries. The Proxyfix is suppose to come up with an error code 87 in the GWcheck log, but it doesn't, so it's like it didn't run. I'm using GW6.5 patch 1. GWcheck 6/30/03. Any ...
