GroupWise v6.0 to 6.5 Upgrade - Continue using 6.0 client

I wish to upgrade our v6.0 GroupWise to v6.5 and want to do it gradually.
I wish to upgrade the server side software first, then let my Helpdesk
staff upgrade the client software on their own timetable. It is my
understanding there is no problem in doing this.

My question is if I continue using the 6.0 client will there by any new
features or options that arrived in v6.5 that the users will see in the
v6.0 client software? My trainer is trying to assess if there are any
user training requirements necessary from a server side upgrade. The only
thing I am aware of is that new users created via the v6.5 server side
software will not see a Sent Items or a Task list button.

Any comments appreciated.

Sounds like how I have completed this task at several sites.

Basically upgrade the primary domain first. then you can upgrade the
secondary domains or the POs under that domain. After all the POs are
upgraded do GWIA and WebAccess. Finally the client.

Biggest thing is to either not upgrade the SDD or to remove the SDD
pointer as the end users will get a message that there is an upgrade
available if you do not.

No.

No.

I do suggest you get the upgrade manual from www.caledonia.net. Low
price for the information and tips/tricks it has within it.

Thx Timothy. I picked up the manual you speak of, looks like it will be a
big help.

That is the sentiment of most of the people that have gotten the manual.

The biggest issue I have seen is that the domain/PO shows up as 6.0
after upgrade. Normally this is the *.dc files not being copied over
correctly. Hand copy and run a rebuild should fix it.

Don't forget to have a full backup (even a hand copy of the domain/PO)

Good luck.

GroupWise 5.2 -> 6.0 No internal email with 6.0 client
We recently migrated from NetWare 4.11 to NetWare 6.0. That went great. We also migrated from GroupWise 5.2 to GroupWise 6.0. That worked great, but we still have an issue that is yet to be resolved. Originally, we had that little issue with Frequent Contacts being corrupted. Even though we ran repairs on the email database, for a resolution we ended up having all of the users delete employee references out of Frequent Contacts. This has worked great for the 5.2 client. When I installed the GroupWise 6 client, the client is again unable to send email to internal accounts. W...

GroupWise 6.0 to 6.5 upgrade (gradual)
Question: Can I move a GW user from a 6.0 PostOffice (in a secondary doamin) to a (newly created) 6.5 PostOffice (in a newly created Primary domain)? Back Story: We currently have a single domain/single P.O. 6.0 server supporting 150+ users. It is an old, slow server that is almost out of disk space. The goal is to get everyone onto the new spiffy, larger, faster server and get us to 6.5 in the process. Challenges: 1) Not comfortable upgrading the currnet server to 6.5. There is only 4% free space on the drive(s). 2) Can't copy the doamin/P.O. to a new server. Based on the amoun...
