Are you using GWIA with Mail Proxy (like BM 3.8 Mail Proxy)

Hi,

Presently we are using GWIA and BorderManager 3.8 Mail Proxy with Multiple
Domain option. We want to activate Reverse lookup on the GWIA (Reject mail
if sender's identity cannot be verified). Since I'm behind BM 3.8 Mail
Proxy, all mail I receive are from the IP Address of my Mail Proxy.
BorderManager Mail Proxy don't have the option to do Reverse Lookup (not
find it that exist).

You, GW Administrator, are you using a Mail Proxy with the GWIA or not?

Thank to share your experience

Regards,

Eric Bellavance

Eric,

I do not use it - personally I know of no one who does.

I know of two companies that use the BM proxy (not my direct clients)
but in neither case do they use RBLs or verify MX records.

I do not believe that the BM proxy and SMTP in general can do this
unless they are looking at multiple header information in the message.
Event then the communicating IP address will still be the BM server
and not the source.

GWIA, BM proxy and SMTP mail
Hi We are running BM3.5 and GW6.5 on a small business 5.1 server. We are unable to receive mail either through an ETRN request with the GWIA dialup or using an MX record to redirect the mail to our ADSL service. When trying to deliver the mail via telnet, we get the 452 error - insufficent system storage which is documented in a number of TIDs. Unfortunately none of the solutions outlined works and we are unable to receive SMTP mail. (The PFA has been giving us a lot of problems, hence the changeover). We do not have any spare IP addresses to allow us to deliver the mail...

GWIA and mail proxy
How do I get GWIA to use the mail proxy on BM37? When I try to send a message the mail address get crossed out? Also how do I setup GWIA to download all user mail from one pop box? NW6.0sp3 BM3.7sp2 GW6.0 1. GWIA doesn't care. If you set /mh-ipaddressofmailproxy, you are done 2. You dont have internet addressing on 3. With great labour. DNS entry for trusted mail proxy (BM 3.8)
Hi All We have a mail server that sends mail out fine to most people barring a couple of domains, BTInternet, Hotmail and various others. When we change groupwise gwia agent to not use our mail host (send directly out) these domains work again. I believe its because our mail proxy is probably untrusted as a sender. What DNS (Netware 6.5 DNS/DHCP) entry do i need to verify that the mail proxy(s) are indeed trusted to send mail from our domain. We have a third party who has our MX records that does our incoming spam filtering but has nothing to do with our sending out, which...

BM 3.8 transparent proxy ignores firewall/proxy
I'm trying to get the transparent proxy working correctly, but it seems to be ignoring the firewall settings in FILTCFG. I am using the regular HTTP proxy, with an 8e6-filter proxy cache client, and that all works fine. It properly filters all sites with the 8e6 filter, whether or not "Must forward through hierarchy" is enabled. Meanwhile the server has two NICs, and FILTCFG is set up to deny direct access to port 80 and 443 through the BM firewall. This is also all working correctly with transparent proxy disabled. Direct access with no proxy configured just si...

Does Groupwise have a "Mail Proxy" option like Netmail?
With Netmail we can set a users account to retrieve their remote POP3 email from another ISP into their Netmail account. Do the Groupwise agents support this or is there a third party product to do this? We don't want to use the users client to retrieve the POP3 email and we aren't actually hosting the email domain on the Groupwise server. I know that the Groupwise Client can retrieve POP3 email but we have to use the Outlook client because of other agency software requirements. We've been having nothing but problems getting Outlook to successfully retrieve em...

Mail Proxy #3
Hello, two of our customers have problems with sending emails to explicit addresses. One server is Netware 5.1 with Sp5 and BM 3.5 SP is up to date. Other server is Netware 5.1 SP6 and BM 3.7 SP2. On both machines there is the same sympton: some emails get out of Groupwise, come into the spooling directory on the BM and will not get delivered. The problem preexist before we patches the server. We tried all TID that we can found, also NAT is not solving the problem. The email recipients are existing. We can telnet to the SMTP server. We can also do a nslookup for MX recor...
