Newsgroup reading: View threads with unread shows threads without unread
Another problem with Usenet, like the one described in bug 248263. Although my settings are set to show only Threads with unread, from time to time in a random group there will be a thread which has no unread messages, but which permanently sticks. The only help is to delete all of its data files and download headers again. There is no rule in when this will happen. ...

Collapsed Newsgroup Threads Indicate Unread Messages, But There Are None
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20110902 Thunderbird/6.0.2 Default 6.0.2 theme View > Layout > Wide View View > Threads > Threads with Unread When I open a newsgroup account, the threads are collapsed (as I want them). I see subjects underlined, indicating the presence of unread messages in those threads. When I expand such a thread, often there is no unread message. I see this with more than one news server account, including the news.mozilla.org server. Individual newsgroups where there are no actual unread messages are not bold; this problem appe...

Mozilla 1.6 Mail&News View menu
The 'View' filter menu unfortunately works only on a per message basis which makes it impossible to filter for threads. For example actually it is not possible to create a filter with this properties: "View all threads which contain a message with [this] properties". This feature could be easily implemented in the following way: In the 'Message View Setup' window underneath the filter list just place a checkbox '[Display] Whole Thread'. Then when this option is checked together with the filtered message all other messages in the same thread w...
