Lockpref & network.proxy.http and network.proxy.http_port

I have two systems that I have tested lockpref for network.proxy.http and
network.proxy.http_port. Both are running Firefox 1.0.5.4. I am using the
same mozilla.txt on both systems. I used the same encoder to convert to a
..cfg file. The boxes are Mac OS X and Windows XP. The Mac OS box works
perfectly fine. The Windows XP box however, will not start correctly when
lockPref for network.proxy.http and network.proxy.http_port are in the
mozilla.txt file (I get some error like: "Could not read configuration
file"). Any body have any luck with this? Below is my mozilla.txt file.

//

pref("network.proxy.type", 1);
pref("network.proxy.ftp", "192.168.2.254");
pref("network.proxy.ftp_port", 8080);
pref("network.proxy.gopher", "192.168.2.254");
pref("network.proxy.gopher_port", 8080);
pref("network.proxy.http", "192.168.2.254");
pref("network.proxy.http_port", 8080);
pref("network.proxy.ssl", "192.168.2.254");
pref("network.proxy.ssl_port", 8080);
pref("network.proxy.no_proxies_on", "localhost, 127.0.0.1, 192.168.2.0/24");

lockPref("network.proxy.type", 1);
// If I uncomment the following, Firefox 1.0.5.4 for Windows will not start
//lockpref("network.proxy.http", "192.168.2.254");
//lockpref("network.proxy.http_port", 8080);

DataSnap & HTTP Proxy Support
Hi all, I've been evaluating DataSnap as a replacement for an old Asta project. I've hit a couple of problems though so I though I would ask the questions. Does DataSnap support connections though HTTP Proxy servers? If so how as I can't see any properties to set and none of the documentation hints on how to do it. A good trawl though Google hasn't revealed anything either. Also is DataSnap able to operate in a true "stateless" mode? From what I have seen if I have a client running and restart the server I get session errors when I try to do anything. I would have though when operating over HTTP it would be completely stateless i.e. a new connection to the server for every server call. Many thanks for any answers. Take care, Ryan Hi Ryan, > Also is DataSnap able to operate in a true "stateless" mode? Yes, but you have to set the LifeCycle property of TDSServerClass to Invocation for that. A quote from my white paper: "By default it’s set to Session, but it can also be set to Server or Invocation. From long to short, the meaning of Server, Session and Invocation mean that one instance of the class is used for the entire lifetime of the server, for the lifetime of the DataSnap session, or for the single invocation of a method. Session means that each incoming connection will get its own instance of the server class. If you change this to Invocation, you will end up with a stat...

Proxy to proxy
Hi. We use BM 3.8 as a proxy server and the main task is to restrict which url's the users can use. In the network there is another proxy server with internet access. Is it possible to setup BM to use another proxy server to connect to internet? And if yes, how ? Magne Absolutely. Search under "Cache Hierarchy Client". Basically....enable the client on the BM box, add you upstream proxy (Neighbor Hostname) add the correct port for the type of upstream proxy, add the type of proxy, usually you can just leave the priority at "1". looks like this...

to Proxy or not to Proxy ?
Hi all, Could I ask for some opinions regarding using a proxy ? Here in the UK, I use Freeserve as my dial-up ISP. There is a web-cache proxy available for use if required, tho' IE6 works fine with or without (a small increase in page loads occurs if I use the proxy). The problem is, that if I use the proxy, then my Outpost Firewall logs only register connections to it, so I suffer from a serious lack of information about where my browser connections are going and what I could block (like adclick connections etc). I'm really not sure about the merits of with/without the pr...

MS Proxy Server, NT4 network & NetBEUI
We have a 5 node lan at my office, using MS Small Biz Server, v4.5 I think. Am using Proxy Server for firewall. Have DSL router from Qwest (NAT might be disabled?). Am changing DSL providers. New provider's tech suggested dumping MS Proxy Server. He suggested using NAT gateway instead. After reading all Steve's stuff (and the gpick.net link), I am considering doing just that. Server runs NT4, client machines are Win2k. Here's the plan... 1. When new DSL service comes (modem only, not a router), switch to Linksys DSL router. 2. Dump Proxy Server. 3. Switch to NetBE...
