'do' won't 'do' if '/'
Greetings to All from Au, Have a NetWare Perl 5.8.4 and wanted to tweak File\Spec\NW.pm to try and standardise on '/' separators. If I run a test script (t/uni/lower.t) with an unmodified NW.pm, it calls t/uni/case.pl, that, in case.pl, (when the path separators are '\'), the $file is '..\lib\unicore\To\Lower.pl' and the following code portion works, with $simple getting a returned table: sub casetest { my ($base, $spec, $func) = @_; my $file = File::Spec->catfile(File::Spec->catdir(File::Spec->updir, "lib", &qu...

'Home'page language change to 'Start'page
Name: Ashley Stevenson Email: firefox_at_mrashley.com Product: Firefox Summary: 'Home'page language change to 'Start'page Comments: Let's change the term 'homepage' to 'startpage' in firefox. Startpage has a more concise and accurate meaning. As a technical support worker, I have spoken to many people who have inferred that homepage somehow relates to his or her ISP. If this is changed he or she becomes worried that the billing method may be changed as well. From the view of a more experienced user (who remembers very early versions o...

Name: StarWatcher Email: starwatcheratdishmaildotnet Product: Firefox Summary: 1. Pages Don't 'Wrap' 2. Maintain Size Change 3. 'Session Restore' Comments: I enjoy Firefox much more than IE; I wouldn't use IE at all if one of the school programs didn't require it. I had been using an old 2. version of Firefox. When I finally upgraded to 3.0.0.5, I find that some of the best features have been changed. I feel that those features should continue in the newer versions. 1. I like to keep my browser window narrower than my screen for more comfo...

Cast from type ''''DBNull'''' to type ''''String'''' is not valid.
How do I avoid getting this error: Cast from type ''''DBNull'''' to type ''''String'''' is not valid. I am trying to get values from the database into a form for updating using a Datareader, SQL is set to allow nulls for certain fields as they are not required but the only way I can get the form to display is by adding a space in SQL. Is there another way around this? Check if it is equal to DBNull.Value first and if it is, don't do the cast.Stanley Tan theSpoke Blog Where in the code does it need to go? table_info('','','','%') cannot return any types
I was recently confirming table_info special cases and discovered the case for getting table_types cannot work. table_info('','','','%') should return a list of table types but it returns a list of empty strings instead: my @types = $h->tables('', '', '', '%'); print "all types:\n", join("xxx\n", @types), "\n"; # should output something like: # "dbo" # "INFORMATION_SCHEMA" # "sys" # and actually outputs: xxx xxx It seems to be down to the following ...

Firefox UI menus idea: move 'Page Info' from 'Tools' to 'View' menu
Hello, I offer my apologies in advance for cross-posting, however I think I should have posted this message here first, and don't want to require anyone to seek out the other post. (For the curious, that short thread with 1 reply from someone agreeing with the idea is archived here: http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.apps.firefox/browse_thread/thread/2f45895725d58411/ ) My message: --- In the theme of the "De-cluttering & improving Fx's interface" thread at: http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.apps.firefox/browse_frm/thread/6a53e16ed307f8f2 ...

Firefox UI menus idea: move 'Page Info' from 'Tools' to 'View' menu
In the theme of the "De-cluttering & improving Fx's interface" thread at http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.apps.firefox/browse_frm/thread/6a53e16ed307f8f2 I had this idea for one little change I think should be made to the Firefox menus (as seen in FF 1.5.0.4): Move the 'Page Info' entry from the 'Tools' menu to the 'View' menu, below and next to the 'Page Source' entry. Why? Because that would group two current-page-related functions together. In fact, these two functions are already grouped together on the right-click...
