Which Version 12.5.0.3, 12.5.0.4, 12.5.1We are currrently running 11.9.2 on an old HPUX server
(development). We are getting a newer HPUX server and our
DBA is asking us which version we should install. It will be
a clean install. Are there any major problems we may
encounter when the 11.9.2 databases are installed/upgraded
to any of the above version. We have numerous stored procs,
views and triggers. Once all applications are fully tested,
we will be upgrading the production server to whichever
version we choose.
I hope that made sense.
TIA
Scott

1.5.0.0.3 vs 1.5.0.0.4I have had numerous difficulties with FF 1.5.0.0.4, in particular, some
sites often just hang when I click on links. A particularly bad site is
Dell http://www.dell.com/, which - when I try to configure a computer
- gets all kinds of "waiting for dell" status bar messages. I tried it
with a clean profile, to no avail. It works flawlessly with IE.
I downloaded fresh copies of 1.5.0.3 and 1.5.0.4 with the intent of
uninstalling the latter and then trying the former. *The uninstall
process hung*. So I installed 1.5.0.3 on top of 1.5.0.4. The Dell site
now works fl...

Migrating 12.5.0 GA to 12.5.0.1
I installed the generally available release on solaris 8.
I then went to back up and got a an error about block zero being an invalid
block.
Looking at the web, this was a known problem on partitions > 4GB in size,
fixed in 12.5.0..1
I then went and download EBF 10700 (interum release) . It was not clear to
me what EBF I should download. This release did not contain loc OCS
libraries for 12.5.0.1. So I then have downloaded EBF 10423.
BTW: I gunzip'ed 10700 and gnu un tared and got a directory check sum
error??
Have looked over sybase site and am still unclear how it...
12.5.0.1 to 12.5.0.3 upgradeWe are planning to upgrade from 12.5.0.1 to 12.5.0.3 on Win
NT
After the upgradation the Sybase service did not start.
The error encountered was:
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or
control request in timely fashion"
We reverted back to the previous setup and the service
started and we could connect to the server.
What could be wrong??
Perhaps you could post the Sybase errorlog. You should be able to find it
under %SYBASE%\%SYBASE_ASE%\install\errorlog, unless it was given a
different name during installation.

sp_helpexternlogin 12.5.0.1 --> 12.5.0.3Hi,
we are at the point of upgrading to 12.5.0.3, and I wonder whether a bug
we are experiencing has been fixed in this new version.
We use DirectConnect ( to Oracle), and sp_addexternlogin to specify the
userid/passwd to be used at the remote end. These settings are per
Sybase login and per remote destination, and we have two or three dozen,
as shown by sp_helpexternlogin. Trouble is, every now and then all
these settings disappear from the system, and we have to re-enter them
manually. We can exclude foul play by now, i.e. no one has come to
delete them.
We are on Sol...
Limited options on AIX going from 12.5.0.1 to 12.5.0.3We find the upgrade options on AIX 4.3.3 and ASE 12.5.0.1 quite limiting and
frankly, just want to hear if anyone else feels such frustration. Since ASE
12.5.0.3 64-bit requires OS levels of AIX 5.1, we must combine the OS
upgrade with the ASE binary upgrade in one event. Then there is no easy ASE
version rollback plan, without rolling back OS. Woo is me.

Sybase ASE 12.5.0.1 / ASE 12.5.3 -- SUSE 8.0The ASE CD-Rom eval version, we receive from Sybase works with no
problem on SUSE 8.0.
After trying so hard to install Sybase ASE from the net with no success,
I asked Sybase to send me a copy of their evaluation ASE Linux
version, this one worked with no twiking whatsover, except for the usual
change required for the shared memory.
I am know, for those who want to run it indefinately, this solution
won't be much of a help, since there is a 60 day trial period limit on
this one, so I am told. But, you might wanna try this until sybase posts
one that works on SUSE 8.0.

ASE 12.0.0.6 to ASE 12.5 and Rep Server 12.1We are planning the upgrade of our ASE 12.0.0.6 64bit on AIX
4.3.3 to ASE 12.5 64bit on AIX 4.3.3. We are also using Rep
Server 12.1 with these two servers. My question is do I
need to upgrade Rep Server as well, or will 12.1 Rep Server
Work with ASE 12.5.
Also, we will be upgrading AIX to 5.1 as well.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Troy
It will work, however you wont be able to use any of the 12.5 new datatypes,
and the rep_agents will spit out annoying error/warning messages everytime
they are restarted. Our production system has been running that way for

Summary: latest browser release 1.5.0.5. does not work. 1.5.0.4. works fine
Comments:
your latest update has in my opinion a problem. but first your updater
does not ask if you wish to update it automatically downloads and
installs. i do not like this approach. i should be given the option to
choose and there should be a 'return to previous version' option.
the latest version installs and after reopening it cannot find the
mozilla site (or any others) stating the site cannot be found with an
option to try again.

Upgrading from 5.0.0 to 5.1.1This is Hisham Ayoub from Nicola Abu Khader & Sons (Jordan). We are
currently using S-Designor 5.0.0 and have a complete designs on it. Just
recently we have received the new upgrades for S-Designor 5.1.1 and
updated our dictionary to be used with the new version.
Our problem is that when we generated physical models and also when we
generated the database generation scripts we received some WILD
unexpected results and error messages. Mainly, S-Designor gave a sorts
of error messages on the (a) constraints and its naming (b) Foreign key
