Fennec in french and How-to for localizing in your own locale.

Hi There.
The Frenchmozilla team have localized Fennec (Mozilla mobile) in French
for the fun of it.

There is a blog post (in French) about this release:

http://blog.frenchmozilla.fr/index/post/2008/07/19/Fennec-Mozilla-mobile-en-francais

And a How-to explainng the process:

http://blog.frenchmozilla.fr/index/post/2008/07/21/How-to-localize-Fennec-04-in-your-language

It's just for fun as the real localization of Fennec is normally planned
in the future :)

I'll make sure it's less cumbersome than this. Seriously.

Hi,
What's the relationship between Fennic and minimo? I remeber that we
localized Minimo before, maybe some thing is reusable?
Looks like that we need a Nokia n8X0 to test localizations, any simulator
in PC that we can use?

Fennec is Mozilla's new mobile project using Gecko 1.9/1.9.1. It =20
will be available for Linux (Nokia N8XX) and Windows Mobile as well. =20=

It is quickly becoming a large effort with an active community and =20
people contributing from mobile handset manufacturers, etc.

Minimo is not an actively supported project anymore. Separate projects.

For most testing purposes, you can simply run fennec as a xulrunner app
on your preferred platform.

I'd really suggest to hold off for a two weeks or so, there isn't that
much work in fennec right now anyway, and it should get *a lot* simpler
once we have a real system set up.

Yes, it was really for the fun of it. To demonstrate it is possible and
to show that there is an interest in localization.
And because I have such a tablet ;)

I'm really hopping (even sure) that this will be easier in the future.

How to image local-to-local
I tried using a couple different Cool Tip articles about zen imaging to USB drives, but am still having problems. I want to store the c:\ drive onto a different partition on the same hard drive. Here's the scenario: 40Gig drive: 20Gig windows partition 10Gig ext2-formatted partition (10gig unused) I mounted the 10Gig partition, then went into the IMG tool and tried to save the c:\drive image to it but it bombs out almost immediately with "Out of space on destination", even though I know that the resulting zmg file will be far less than 10Gig. Fennec localization for three-character language code locales
Hi everyone, I hope you're all well. I have some exciting news about Fennec localization! The release of the Android 5.0 platform included new build tools within the Android SDK. These build tools now support building three-character language codes into multilocale apps. This is a big win for Mozilla l10n teams whose language is classified with a three-character language code and allows us to expand language coverage beyond what has ever been done before on mobile! As with many things, there is a bit of a catch here. Because these build tools are specific to the Androi...

localizing fennec
I might've missed the procedues how to localize fennec - so sorry for asking. So, what I have in my $BASE_DIR is: a mozilla-1.9.2-hg/ dir from http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla-1.9.2 that I use for Firefox 3.6. a mk-1.9.2-hg/ dir from http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/l10n-mozilla-1.9.2/mk/ with the mk locale Then I cloned the Fennec repository: cd $BASE_DIR/mozilla-1.9.2-hg/ hg clone http://hg.mozilla.org/mobile-browser now when I try compare-locales I get: cd $BASE_DIR compare-locales mozilla-1.9.2-hg/mobile-browser/locales/l10n.ini . mk-1.9.2-hg mk-1.9.2-hg/: k...

English locale in the localized versions
Hello, It would be very nice if all versions of Firefox would also include the English locale and an easy way to switch to it. Not everyone likes their software not being in English, and the auto-detection feature of the download page makes it easy to get a localized version by mistake. I've ran into this problem several times while setting up friends' PCs, and having to reinstall Firefox was annoying. I realize that adding all locales like, say, Opera does would more than double the installer size, but the English locale alone is small, and the changes required would be t...

AMO localization
if you open https://addons.allizom.org/sl/firefox/?browse=featured you'll notice that the top 70% of categories in the left/hand side column (Alerts & Updates and on down all the way to Other) have not been localized. This is of course the first thing that hits the eyes of a visitor, making him wonder about visual and intellectual capabilities of people doing the localization. I have just looked once more time into the repository and I cant find any strings like these. Could it be it is some hard-coded stuff (tags maybe?). Any explanation and suggestion how to deal w...

Local
Hi, This is really 2 questions in one. 1. If we are running transactions using the shared tx co-ordinator model all dbase calls should be made over 1 Connection Cache. Does this mean all the components that are used on a tx must run on the same box. 2. If this is correct, how can we ensure that all calls are made on the local box, in a clustered environment? ----------------------------------------- We are wish to run a cluster which guarantees to run components on the local box only. We need to do this (I think) for the following reasons. There are 3 types of...
