Is Infomaker 7 Backward Compatable With Infomaker 6?

Can reports created in Infomaker 7 be used in Infomaker 6. My initial
thought is no, but I need to confirm this for a client.

Officially, they are not backwards compatible. But I've copied a report
from IM7 to IM6 and then ran it without problems in IM6. I suggest you do
some serious testing with different types of reports before you advise your
client that you can do this.

I've should've done some more research. When you try to create an exe
using the IM7 report, IM6 will complain bitterly. Even after you modify the
report. So I'll change my answer to NO.

OK. The latest. If the report was created in IM6, then converted to IM7,
IM6 can still use it. You can create exes without problems. The error I
encountered previously, had to do with a bug in the compiler, in that it
doesn't handle reports that have a 'control-enter' symbol in their comments.

If the report was created in IM7, IM6 cannot even open the report. It will
give a message about the version number being wrong.
