No Images On One Site

Anyone know why images don't load on this site. They used to. Safe Mode doesn't change it.

I saw a the site is in Beta notification when it was loading.

A couple of the images appeared, the rest were blank.

Clicking on a blank image opened it for viewing.

The missing lazy-loaded images are in webp format which Mozilla only implemented in Firefox 65. It would be a good thing to back-port this.

Here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1294490

What apparently happens is that people run some Google audit tool on their site which says "Hey, make those images WEBP, it's faster" rather than the more accurate "Make those images WEBP so that only Chrome-alikes can show them".

The page says it is under development.

When would you guess this might be released?

I'm still hanging on here, barely, mostly because the thought of learning a new browser is overwhelming but there are a lot of sites that seem to be using this right now. That and the recent Facebook Look up issue are really infuriating.

https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/StatusMeetings/2020-10-18 says:

"... We plan to release SeaMonkey 2.53.5 beta 1 in October.

The 2.53.5 beta release is tracked in bug 1669078.
The release notes and website update are tracked in bug 1669079.

When available later the sources can be checked out from the 2_53_5_beta_01 branch in the gitlab project repos. Among other things this release adds webp and av1 support.

NASM is now needed to build with av1 support. 2.14.2 is recommended. The release will be build with rust simd support enabled. Plans are for it to be on the 10/05 unofficial patch level. Not yet reviewed patches will be either taken out or finalized after review...
