Just Installed 1.0.4 over 1.0.1 - no Download Manager
I installed SeaMonkey 1.0.4 last night and allowed it to install over the previous version (1.0.1). Everything seemed to work fine - all my bookmarklets, extensions, and plugins are working. I've used it this morning - no obvious problems..... But I tried to download an image from http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ this morning, and the image does not appear in the directory it says it downloaded to. No file name listed as per the DM function. The DM window appears, I select where the image is to go and click. All seemingly normal. But the image is not saved - not where I saved it. Cannot find the image name supposedly saved under even with Explorer's search function - it didn't save it ANYWHERE. If I click TOOLS | DOWNLOAD MANAGER nothing happens. Is it not there? I have PREFERENCES set to open a progress dialog AND to prompt for location/last folder used. What is happening? Bug in 1.0.4 ? -- DoctorBill

At least for this one I think I have a solution: Search for the file compreg.dat on your hard disk and delete it (quit SeaMonkey before deleting it). Normally compreg.dat can be found under [Path to your SeaMonkey program folder]\components. This should fix the bug. > Bug in 1.0.4 ? I renamed it xxxcompregxxx.**** (just in case) and restarted SM. There was my Download Manager and, son-of-a-gun, it saved the comet pic exactly where I told it to. Since the Download Manager isn't working, I would delete the file downloads.rdf, which is located in the profile directory. Then try again. -- EVERYTHING HAS A GENDER You may not know this but many nonliving things have a gender... An Hourglass is Female, because over time, the weight shifts to the bottom.

Just upgraded two separate machines from SeaMonkey 1.0.3 to 1.0.4 and lost the ability to download .exe files, .zip files and .pdf files. Looking at this thread, I deleted compreg.dat on one machine, and downloads.rdf on the other. Both fixes worked fine, and everything is now back to normal: doanloads.rdf was a tad easier, as the file was where I expected to find it, down in the Moz. section of DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS; took me a while to realise compreg.dat was in the SeaMonkey section of PROGRAMS, somewhere I very seldom have to go to fix anything. A bit of Googling tells me corruption of compreg.dat has been an issue since Netscape days. Odd that it's still around. AGB

Whenever mine gets a scroll bar, then that when I do a clean up of mine. -- You may not know this but many nonliving things have a gender . . . A Hammer is Male , because it hasn't changed much over the last 5,000 years, but it's handy to have around.

By the way, I delete the stuff on my download manager as gwtc says. If you don't, they accumulate and *slow down* the downloads.
