...Off-Topics that are On-Topics!!!
I see here some "Off-Topics" that are so off that moderator wishes them to be as "On-Topics" then he/she suddenly discard them without notice to the author!!!
It is because freedom is respected too much! Don't be messed up! I mean freedom for moderators not the poor authors.
Would you like to try? Just send a post containing something about politics, Islam, Palestine, Israel, Iran or the like so that not in favor of moderator. While they are actually and obviously Off-Topics in Delphi/Embarcadero but moderator considers it as the third case(!) i.e. On-T...Delphi jobs in France?
Hi, after more than 12 years in the UK (and some time in New Zealand and the
US during that time), I am thinking of going back 'home' (France) and was
wondering whether there would be some good French souls around here who
could give me some information about the Delphi market in France.
I am not necessarily looking into a Delphi job, but I would certainly not
mind that since I have done quite a few things with Delphi (I started with
D1 and even used Turbo Pascal prior to that).
For personal reasons, I am currently looking into the Brittany region
(Vannes would be ideal!), ...Teaching Delphi: What topics?
For the experts out there: If you did/had to teach Delphi to someone
who already has some development experience with languages like
procedural BASIC and/or Python... what topics would you cover?
I guess I would start with this, but what else should I cover?
0. Delphi + OOP
1. Language syntax + datatypes
2. Managing forms (forms, frames, datamodules, etc.)
4. Networking (fetching web pages, connecting to FTP, etc.)

I hope Ask doesn't feel like I'm poaching his userbase... ;-)
I thought I'd bring some job opportunities to your attention. If you
are willing to relocate to Columbia, MD, there are two positions open at
my new job:
and one at our sister company OmniTI:
Both Message Systems and OmniTI share the same office space in Columbia
(halfway between Washington, DC and Baltimore) and both share a very
"engineer oriented" culture. I'm really happy at my new job,...Delphi job demand in UK
Embarcadero sure has a mountain to climb. For their sake I hope XE5
does well, because I don't think they have any more tricks up their
sleeves. As for me... well the "Delphi Jobs Demand Trend" graph says it
all!! The state of Delphi in the UK is abysmal. :-( Such a pity,
because I really enjoy the language.
Does anybody have similar data/information in other countries?
EMB has got to somehow change the perception of Delphi as being a legacy
system, and only used
for maintaining old...Delphi and Delphi for .Net
It seems that Delphi for .Net is slower than Delphi Win32 native applicaiton.

Looking an Threads/Messages and Views in the forums Fire Monkey is now the top discussion subject in the Delphi forums. For C++Builder it is fourth. It looks like Fire Monkey is taking over Delphi. I don't know if the free C++ AppMethod for Android phone is still going on, but I hope we get more cross platform developers here in C++. The best Fire Monkey blog is still, fmxexpress.com

I don't think we've every discussed if posting jobs here is a no-no, but I
thought people might be interested in knowing that Mozilla is looking for a
"QA Execution Engineer" with the possibility of it being a remote job.

I am having trouble jumping to HTML help topics from Delphi XE. The help is a CHM file and I am calling the help as follows:
In the opening form the above call only works for the first two topics in the help file (i.e. welcome and contact us). If I want to call any other topic, I found the following works, but only from the opening form:
HTMLHelp(0, Application.HelpFile, HH_Help_Context, HelpTopicNum);
With other forms, created from the opening form with a popup mode property of pmAuto, Application.HelpContext can only access t...RawByteString component proprty: Data loss in Delphi 2010
Delphi 2010 does not set RawByteString properties via the Object Inspector and
Proof: Take a simple TComponent class with just a single RawByteString property
(source below). Install the component into your Delphi 2010 IDE, drop the
component on a form and try to set the RawByteString property. No matter what
you try, it will always fall back to an empty string.
I found that any string entered in the OI is passed to the setter function as an
empty string. This is also true for field properties, i.e. when there is no
