Create log file to determine IDE bugs

Even though the RAD Studio 2008 IDE had improved stability compared to earlier releases it is still buggy and crashes, gives internal errors etc. This is especially true with ASP.NET development. My top issues are.

1. Design tab not visible when opening an ASCX page. This has been an issue since the first support for ASP.NET was introduced and it has not been fixed or improved since that. No message or anything as to WHY the design tab is not displayed

2. Page_Load error when loading an ASCX page. Again, no information WHY the page cannot be loaded. There is nothing wrong with the markup or the code since closing and reopening the project works fine.

This errors are intermittent and seem random to me. Since Codegears approach seem to be "if you cannot send us a reproducible case, we will ignore it" I wonder if a possible approach would be to have a "debug" option that will continuously write a log file so that it will be easier for the developers to find the reason for these bugs.

What do you think about this idea?

Delphi IDE and .INI files
Hi, I've recently upgraded to Delphi XE and am currently in a process of porting source code from Delphi 7 to XE. One minor irritation that I've run into is that the Delphi XE IDE opens an .ini file that's part of a project as hex. Delphi 7 didn't behave this way -- it simply opened the .ini file as a text file for editing. Is there an option somewhere that I've missed to get Delphi XE to treat .ini files the same way Delphi 7 did? Many thanks, Walter Prins Walter Prins wrote: > Hi, > > I've recently upgraded to Delphi XE and am currently...

Delphi 2006: IDE bug
My Delphi 2006 seems to have lost its internal reference between some .pas source files and the system which keeps track of where it all is. Stuff like 'Find Declaration' ends up in the wrong place in the file, and when I put my mouse cursor over a statement, instead of showing information about it, the computer goes into a loop and CPU goes to 100%. How can I force Delphi to refresh its internal indexing system of the source files? I cannot find where it keeps it. Thanks, Bart New Zealand Bart Kindt wrote: > My Delphi 2006 seems to have lost its internal reference betw...

XML files created in 2010 IDE
I'm creating XML files of nearly-static data, they are only going to be used in my D2010 app so I am trying to use UTF-16 as it's the native string type in Win32 and D2010 (I think!) so I have:- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?> When I create the file in D2010 IDE it's saved as UTF-8, and MSXML raises the appropriate error. Can I fix this somehow? I can (and do) use another editor but I'd rather keep everything in Delphi. MTIA -- Ed. Hello, Right click on the editor windows -> file format -> Little endian UCS-2...

Re-associate Delphi files with the IDE
Hi, I've noticed that all my .PAS and other Delphi files are no longer associated with Delphi. Usually after install I'm able to double click these files and the open IDE will load the file. If I use the Open With default option it tries to launch a new IDE everytime I double click one of the Delphi files. Is there a way to get it back to how it normally behaves without re-installing Delphi? Thanks Johann Campbell wrote: > Hi, I've noticed that all my .PAS and other Delphi files are no > longer associated with Delphi. Usually after install I'm able to > doubl...

Delphi 2009 IDE corrupts project file?
I did a build and maybe an install on a Delphi project that is not a design time project. The units in the project have disappear twice now after building the project. Delphi OSX Bundler (Create .app via IDE)
http://enesce.com/dl/DelphiOSX_Bundler.zip Description: This tool will create a simple ZIP bundle for your Delphi OSX application. In order for you to Deploy your application to the public, you need to have your project in an OSX "Application Bundle". A bug in the IDE?
I'm placing this message in datagrids, since it is with datagrids that I see this most often. Has anyone had the problem with Visual Studio .net losing the events you've automatically hooked up in the designer? I'm building a web application in c# and have many datagrids with events I've hooked up in the property editor. It's frustrating to click on something you wrote, tested, and debugged weeks ago and have nothing happen. I've applied all the hotfixes (that I know of) long ago. The problem is sporadic. Any ideas? My version is: Microsoft Visual C# .NET 55603-000-0000007-1...
