updates are not visible after executing stored proc

uses: delphi 5 +up2; windows xp pro; oracle 8i client; BDE;

i have button on a form which executes a stored procedure. after executing the stored procedure, the relation gets a primary key by way of trigger being fired, which is not visible even after refreshing the dataset. the only means of seeing the primary key is going back and coming back to the newly inserted record on the TTable from the navigator component.

is there any way i can see the primary key once after saving to the relation?

regards,

hifni

update user while stored proc is executing
I'm developing a PB10.5 application which connects to a DB2 database using ODBC. When a user clicks a button on a modal screen it executes a stored procedure. This stored proc can take between 10 - 20 seconds to run and I would like to be able to show an icon moving to the user while this is going on just to show the user that the process is still in progress. When the stored proc is running it does not execute the code in the timer event of the window nor can I do anything else in the application. Does anyone know if you can have the applicaiton execute code while a stored procedur...

Can you trace into a stored Proc? Also does RAISERROR terminate the stored proc execution.
I am working with a large application and am trying to track down a bug. I believe an error that occurs in the stored procedure isbubbling back up to the application and is causing the application not to run. Don't ask why, but we do not have some of the sourcecode that was used to build the application, so I am not able to trace into the code. So basically I want to examine the stored procedure. If I run the stored procedure through Query Analyzer, I get the following error message: Msg 2758, Level 16, State 1, Procedure GetPortalSettings, Line 74RAISERROR could not locate entry for e...

Problem Updating the Database from a Gridview using a Stored Proc.
Hi all, I have a gridview displaying data from a database. The data comes from a Sql 2005 express database table - via a Stored Proc which is bound to a Dataset. The dataset in turn is connected to the Gridview with "Editable" enabled. All of this works fine - so I added another StoredProc which will update the table. I connect it to the Dataset and then bind that to the Gridview and all is fine until you Click "Save" in the GridView. Somehow the functions generated always has the wrong parameters for the Update() method. Does anyone know of / have a demo project w...

UPDATE Stored Proc -- Updated over all of my records
I wrote a stored proc to be implemented in a datagrid. I went and used it on a record to update some information and it updated THE WHOLE DATABASE WITH THAT ONE RECORD.. IF anyone could shead some light on what I'm doing wrong that would be great. Here is the syntax for my stored proc. CREATE PROC updateResults2 @id int, @address1 nvarchar (50), @address2 nvarchar (50), @CITY nvarchar (33), @ST nvarchar (10), @ZIP_OUT nvarchar (5), @ZIP4_OUT nvarchar (4), @home_phone nvarchar (22), @NEWPhone nvarchar (20) AS UPDATE Results SET address1 = @address1, address...

calling a stored proc from a stored proc
Hi Group! I'm on ASA 8.02 Build 4411 writing sprocs in WATCOM SQL. I have a sproc which breaks a given string-parameter into pieces. It's result set contains the pieces, e.g. last line of sproc: "select item from mytable;". This sproc works fine. Now I need to call this procedure from another procedure which has a variable result set. I tried the following: <snip... set ll_retval = 0; call sp_breakstring(as_bzp,','); BreakLoop: while ll_retval <> 100 and not ll_retval < 0 loop set li_zaehler = li_zaehler + 1; fetch next sp_breakstrin...

dw error updates without retrieve when using stored proc update
Datawindow error Update without retrieve I need help in understanding the new feature in pb7 which allows the use of stored procs to update dwindows. I cannot find Sybase documentation about this. This is conceptually a very different method updating multiple row changes. By the way, using the old style update clause works fine for the same dwindow ie: pb sends multiple update statements to the server. I searched for this topic and found this message posted a while ago. There was a reference to ww.justpbinfo.com/techdocs/rowchange.asp but that article talks to newbies and is...

dw error updates without retrieve when using stored proc update
Datawindow error Update without retrieve This problem happens only when using JDM JDBC Microsoft VM. I have tried it using ODBC and it works fine. I have not succeeded in getting the JDS JDBC Sun VM to work at all. By the way, using the old style update clause works fine for the same dwindow ie: pb sends multiple update statements to the server. I am sure I am missing some critical piece of information to make this work. ...

Stored Proc Update
We are starting to use stored procedures for all of the updates to our datawindows. We are interested in how others are doing this and dealing with concurrency. Stored Proc Updates
Is it possible to Call stored Proc from DW to update the table. The problem is: I dont want to give every user right to insert/update/delete to the table directly. Therefore I m planning to use Stored proc (that will do the job) and give my users Permission to execute the SPs. Juss wondering How this will work in PFC enviroment eg: - Save event and linking DW. Is there any option other than using SP to make sure all users dont get permission to modify tables directly. Thanks Shalinder I believe you can use the PFC security functionality...?? stored proc updates
Hi, I'm on PB 5.0.04 , mssql 6.5 I am doing all my updates to datawindows by SPUD (stored procedure update for datawindows). I update multiple tables this way and it works very nicely. The problem is that in the DW painter, I would like to specify that columns from more than one table are updateable. PB doesn't like this. I know I could set each column manually in code to be updateable, but I want to avoid this, because this would force me to update the script every time I add a new column. Currently, the way I have to do it is to export the datawindow, edit the export...
