I need to insert data into a mySQL 4 DB using ODBC, and I'm using .NET 1.1

I think the subject line pretty much clears up what I need to do.  I've included the code below that I have so far, I think I've got the connection right, but I don't know how to insert the data in the table when the command button is clicked.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="False"  EnableSessionState="False" EnableViewState="False" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="System.Data" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="System.Data.Odbc" %>

<%
Dim ConnStr As String = "Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};Server=localhost;Database=contactlist;uid=DBNAME;pwd=PASSWORD;option=3"
Dim con As OdbcConnection = New OdbcConnection(ConnStr)
Dim cmd As OdbcCommand = New OdbcCommand("SELECT * FROM TABLENAME", con)
con.Open()
%>
 <script runat="server">

 Function insertcontactdata(firstname as string, lastname as string, address as string, apt as string, city as string, state as     string, zip as string, email as string, drpPhone as string, Phone1 as string, drpPhone2 as string, Phone2 as string)

 End function
    Sub cmdSubmit_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs)

        INSERT INTO TABLENAME
        VALUES (txtFirstName.text, txtLastName.text, txtAddress.text, txtApt.text, txtCity.text, drpState.selecteditem.value, txtZip.txt, txtEmail.text, drpPhone.selecteditem.value, txtPhone.text, drpPhone2.selecteditem.value, txtPhone2.text )
    End Sub

    </script>

Well, things have changed but I didn't want to start a new post...Still need to do the same thing but I'm trying to make a separate sheet do the handling...I've put the code for both pages below...I know the data is, or at least was, being passed into the SQL code...but no data was inserted into the database.  All of this was on one sheet, but I just cut and pasted the SQL part onto a different sheet.  Any help would be much appreciated...

Code for the handling sheet:
<%@ Page Language="VB" ContentType="text/html" ResponseEncoding="iso-8859-1" %>
<%@ Import Namespace="System.Data" %>
<%@ Import Namespace = "MySql.Data.MySqlClient" %>
<script runat="server">

    Dim myConnection  As MySqlConnection
    Dim myDataAdapter As MySqlDataAdapter
    Dim myDataSet     As DataSet

    Dim strSQL        As String
    Dim iRecordCount  As Integer

    myConnection = New MySqlConnection("server=localhost; user id=username; password=password; database=contactlist; pooling=false;")

Dim cmd As OdbcCommand = New OdbcCommand("INSERT INTO `contacts` VALUES ('','"& txtFirstName.text &"','"& txtLastName.text &"','"& txtAddress.text &"','"& txtApt.text &"','"& txtCity.text &"','"& drpState.selecteditem.value &"','"& txtZip.text &"','"& txtEmail.text &"','"& drpPhone.selecteditem.value &"','"& txtPhone.text &"','"& drpPhone2.selecteditem.value &"','"& txtPhone2.text &"')")

.NET 1.1 and .NET 2 Perceives DB data differently

The data is pulled from the database using standard ADO with no changes between the .NET 1.1 version and the .NET 2 version - yet for some data entries, when the identical value is pulled by the .NET 2 code it is changed or shorted.
