authenticate user using WINDOWS login
Hi,
we have a asp.net 2.0 web application built, but recently decided to redo the login section, rather than using forms authenticate, we decided it might be better to use windows login, as it's an intranet application and might make it easier on the user to remember one less login. We also need to drop a session property once the user is logged in, as the remainder of the site already looks for that value, are there any samples on how to customize the login against WINDOWS passwords? Samples to show how to set it up and how to custom authenticate the check for whether the user/pass is valid or not, so if valid we can add that extra session property in as well.thanks.

Hi,
In your web.config change the configuration like this
<authentication mode="Windows">
</authentication>in IIS take the properties of your project and in one of the tabs select Windows Authentication and remove check from Annonymous access if it is checked.
Run your site. Now you should see a popup like window asking for User name and password.

Thanks, but what if i don't want a popup? i want to keep the form on the asp.net page, have the user type in their login and then authenticate it?

Well you can have a look at this post to understand further http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998358.aspx and you can probably find your answer in this post http://forums.asp.net/t/1295710.aspx (In short your browser will not promput you if your site is added in trusted website).
