How do I use the Login with Windows User Logins?
I would like to use the windows user logins for my intranet, but am unsure how I would use the roles, etc. for this.
Any suggestions?"Sometimes I spend so much time going the wrong direction on a problem. K.I.S.I.S = Keep It Simple I'm Stupid :)"Matt

Windows Authenticated Website
I have a website using Integrated windows authentication. I'm using the follow code called from a pop-up window to show word, excel, csv, text, and pdf files within the browser or by forcing a download using the content type header. The problem is that when I try to display excel files within the browser by using below code, I get a Windows Login Prompt even though the user has already logged in once already in the parent window that the popup was called from. In Windows XP (IE7) I hit cancel without logging in and the document displays just fine. In Vista, if I hit cancel the ...
Getting Windows User's Login and Domain while using Forms Authentication
I am using Forms Authentication, in an intranet application for reasons not worth getting in to. I have left anonymous off and kept Windows Integrated Security on. Is there a way for me to get the user's windows login and domain. I have tried using Environment and Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity to retrieve this information but no luck. Any information will help. Thanks!!!

Login failed for user '(null)' error when trying to use Windows authentication
I'm working on an ASP.NET project, and we're attempting to switch from SQL Server authentication to Windows authentication to connect to the database.
It works fine locally when I debug in Visual Studio, but when it hits the web server, I get the error: "Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection."
IIS has anonymous access disabled, and Integrated Windows Authentication is checked. The web.config file has:
<authentication mode="Windows"/><identity impersonate="true"/>

login security issueI see 2 boys sitting together that are not supposed to be.
When questioned, they said...well...Brandon can't remember his I.D. number
so I just let him use my username and password. If we type it in and hit
enter at the exact same time it will log us both in!!!! I watched them
and it worked.

Windows Authentication Replace Remote User Login Popup With Page Login
Hey,I have a corporate intranet and when the users are local we use single sign-on and they are automatically authenticated and they move on about their business. Sadly, when they browse the intranet remotely, most users don't uderstand that the login needs to be 'domain\ussername', not just username which of course submits mysite.com\username. Anyway, How can I replace that login popup with a page redirect to a login web page. All of my users are on one domain so I could assume that much for them. The end result is that when they logon from home, I want them to be redirect...
How to open the NT user login window to force user to re-authenticate?As our app is moving to start using NT user authentication, there is
a need for the user to re-authenticate themselves before logging into
the app, due to security issues with some of the financial data
contained within.
Does anyone use what Windows API we have to call to open the regular
network login window and force the user to re-authenticate (i.e.
re-enter their password) and find out if it was successful?
thank you,
Jacek
Can you elaborate a bit.
What's the point of this "re-authentication"?

How to authenticate users using user login and password stored in SQL database?
Hi. I have a DetailsView with Bound Fields "Login" and "Password". This informations are stored in SQL database. How to solve such authorization? How to compare password stored in database against passowrd typed by user? Is this a good idea to use CustomValidator control to write some checking procedure?. Regards. Pawel.
When you click the login button. Perform a select query to your database that gets the password for the given loginname.
Then compare the two passwords.

A custom validator control probably isn’t the best choice to validate the user password. Typically websites avoid acknowledging that the username is in the system if the password is incorrect. I’d take a look at the ASP.Net Membership Provider. You can cr...
