GridView Columns Count Diffrent from DataSet Columns Count

Dear Team

I am using ASP.NET 2.0, C#, Ajax, JavaScript

I have a Grid View that contains 10 columns.

When I bind data to it from C#, this data set that I use may contain less columns count than that in the Grid View. So on binding I goterror Column X is not there in the data set.

Please advise what to do.

Hello Ramzy,

I am not sure why you would have a GridView that expects columns that are not in the data set.  For example, if I configure a column in my grid view to show the Name field, I would always expect the Name field from the data that binds to it.  If the columns are uncertain, try using AutoGenerateColumns=true in the GridView definition.

Kind regards

Scotty

thank you for your reply

but the problem i am facing is that there is might be not all col. is returned or all columns

so that's why i was asking

if it is possible if not i will use autoGenterate columns  = true.

thank you

datawindow.column.count not returning the column count of a datawindow
I am having problems with the datawindow.column.count property of a datawindow. It just started happening with PB 6.501 and still works fine in PB 5.0. The function that looks at this property is in an ancestor userobject. The dataobject is assigned at this point but all other properties of the datawindow are missing. Any suggestions? Don't recall, but was it still dwDescribe() in version 5.0? If it was that may be your problem. Why is COUNT(column) faster then COUNT(*) ??
I'm working with MS SQLServer 6.5 and ASA 6.03. Running the COUNT (*) and COUNT(PK_column) query on both: I get 10 seconds against 3 seconds on ASA with a 50.000-record table and 1 second against 3 seconds on SQLServer with a 280.000-record table. Is it typically ASA or am I missing something? The count does a table scan in ASA. Column.count counts OLE BLOB but modify statement does not?
Has anyone come across this bit? I've just found that the column.count functionality encompases OLE BLOB objects, but the datawindow itself (looked at through 'edit' mode) does not. This causes an instant GPF situation when trying to use column.count as the basis for a modify statement, since eventually it's trying to affect a column that, to PB, doesn't exist. Thoughts? TIA P. As usual, code defensively. When you are looping on the column column.count, do a describe first for a property that is guaranteed to be present, if describe returns an exclam...
