"session state history size is too small"??

Hi

I think my problem has been discussed before, but I haven't really found a good explanation for it, so here it goes:
Sometimes when I cause a postback in my mobile application, I get en error message containing the following text:
"The page requires session state that is no longer available. Either the session has expired, the client did not send a valid session cookie, or the session state history size is too small. Try increasing the history size or session expiry limit."
It happens in my IE 6 just as often as it happens in Pocket IE (2002). The error messages appear totally random and they usually happen after pressin the "login" button on the first page of the application. More often than not the error appears on pages with very little viewstate information. Also it has nothing to do with navigating through the site using the "back" button - I use the on site navigation buttons all the time.
I have tried tinkering with the session time-out and SessionStateHistorySize. The session time-out is set to 20 mins. so it shouldn't be the problem as the error very frequently appear at the login page. I tried setting the SessionStateHistorySize = 60 instead of the default 6, but it didn't appear to help.
Also I have tried both the cookieless=true and cookieless=false options, but it doesn't appear to make a difference.
One last bit of information: I have turned of caching at the client as some of the information is very sensitive (social security numbers etc.).
I hope some of you will be able to help.
Regards
Andreas

What is a "Session" and a "Request" ??
Hello,  I'm new to ASP.Net 2.0 , and I still can't understand what is a "Session" and what is a "Request" ??   Thank You the client browser will request a page and the Request object will give you information about what page they are requesting. the session is a statebag where you can store information that will continue to exist after the page has executed.  information can be added to the Session in page A and then read back from the Session in page B.  the session object is unique per user - so one users does not see data stored b...

"Go" to "History"
In the Firefox menu, "Go" brings up "History". So shouldn't it read "History", not "Go"? I'm by no means a Dev, but I can't imagine it would be difficult to change the word "Go" to "History". "Go" just doesn't make sense. It may as well say "Pancake". "History" is what it is, and "History" it should say. Do you know anyway for me to exclude a subset of columns returned by this function. We have two columns (rec_user and rec_datetime) which are in all of our tables, but when generating triggers I want automatically generate a script which does not include those two columns but does include all other columns in that table. Precedence of "where" ("of", "is", "will")?
Nobody on #perl6 today could answer this one. Is: Str | Int where { $_ } the same as: (Str | Int) where { $_ } or: Str | (Int where { $_ }) ? Followup questions, Mr. President: What kind of operators are "where", "of", "is", and "will"? Is there a reason that S03 doesn't list them? Cache: "running" size v. "configured" size
I've just begun to work seriously with ASE 11.5.1 on NT4SP3. The box is *not* a production machine so it's sort of ok to experiment and mess it up (oh, they're not the same? ;-). It's a PPro200, wide Symbios SCSI w/ 192mb. I've made three tables in a 300 db on a "device"; the db's 50mb log is on another "device" (same drive, of course). I wrote a program in Delphi to insert and update records in one table based on a sequential read of another table. This was *terribly* slow compared to file-based paradox tables. Of course I understand ...

I am getting this error and I know what is causing it, but I have no idea how to fix it, any help would be great. The script steps through the /var/log/messages file on a linux server and puts The entries into a mysql database. However when it gets to the 'hlt' line in the messages file it just barfs. The single quotes are freaking it out. I know about quotes but not how to use in this situation. Thanks, Paul Error: May 27 17:53:00 localhost kernel: Checking 'hlt' instruction... Good news for those of you who get "Unable to make the session state request to the session state server." error..
Dear all,Due to the known problem of session variables getting lost if using InProc-server during frequent changes in development, I had to choose between SQL and ASP.NET State server, so I opted for the second. Initially, all fine, but after using it for a few days, I started to get this error: Server Error in '/cv2' Application.Unable to make the session state request to the session state server. Please ensure that the ASP.NET State service is started and that the client and server ports are the same.  If the server is on a remote machine, please ensure that it accep...
