Hi,

and welcome to the ASP.NET forums.

You don't run a webform in a browser, of which Chrome is one, but rather render the output that's generated by ASP.NET, meaning simple HTML since that's the thing the browser knows how to handle. So yes it's perfectly possible for you to use Chrome as a browser to navigate to a url and request a page and display it. I personally use IE8, Firefox 3, Chrome and Safari on my development pc.

Just deploy your application on your server and create a virtual folder. Then navigate to the url of your application with Chrome by typing the url into the address bar.

Hi,

have you properly created your virtual folder in IIS6? If so you can open IIS manager (Start > Run > type in inetmgr and press enter). Then go to the virtual folder. Right click on the default.aspx page and select Browse. This opens up a browser window on the server itself. Copy that url from the address bar. Go to your own computer and paste the url in your address bar. Replace localhost with the name of the server. I'm not directly there to guide you so it could take some experimenting/tweaking the copied url.

Grz, Kris.

This webpage is not available. The webpage at http://localhost:77/default.aspx might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 312 (net::ERR_UNSAFE_PORT): Unknown error.

Hi,

is IIS up and running? Check in inetmgr if it is, if not start it.

Muhammad Kashan Khan:
http://localhost:77/default.aspx

Does this url work in a browser that you run directly on the server itself? If so, then you need to remove the localhost part and use the name of the server in there if you want to browse it from another computer.

I'm not sure if this is what your doing but the port in the url implies your running from vs2008 using the built in server.

Visual studio just right click the page and select browse with.. to show the Visual Studio Browse with Dialog Box.  You can also set the default web browser for visual studio with browse with dialog.

Good Luck

Hi,

Muhammad Kashan Khan:
both are not working in chrome

Does it work in IE? If not it means that you don't have the correct url in your address bar and you need to focus on that.

The default port is 80 and that's just assumed for a web page that the traffic goes through port 80
