is there a free VS.Net 2003 like express or so free for download
Hi, I code using VS2003. Is there any free version like the 2005 express free for download. 2/ If not, let s say I download VS2005, will I be able to code like if I were using VS2003, or are the VS2003 objects, controls and tools not available in VS2005 which means that if I have VS2005 I will have to code the 2005 way instead of the the old 2003 fashion. I am asking because I am looking for work and I still need to practice 2003 and understand it before I switch to upper versions. VB6 ActiveX controls done in VS.NET 03/05
Hi peeps. I used to develop ActiveX controls in VB6 and when I'd hit F5 the control would appear effortlessly in IE.  How can I do this in .Net? ....Let's say I have a simple UserControl in VB6 with 1 button on it.  The code behind the button_click event  is only "UserControl.BackColor = vbBlue", how do I reproduce this in .Net so that I can view it on the web?  Is it that ascx files have replaced this? Any help and ideas appreciated. Ray. Dublin, Ireland. ...

What is delay signing in .NET ?
Could any one help me about delay signing. What is delay signing in .net and how can you implement it.Please mark as answer if my post is useful and Please correct me if I am wrong anything here. Okay. When we create a strong named assembly and want this assembly to be used by someone else, we partially build this assembly by provide a Public Key. We write this Public Key in the AssemblyInfo.vb OR .cs file using the attribute <Assembly:AssemblyKeyFileAttribute("somekey.snk")> Note here that somekey.snk is a key that you create using sn.exe tool. We create it like this in the comma...

signing an activex control
I made a control with VB6, tested it in my application, and need to sign it so I can put in general use. A department where I work can provide me with a certificate, the public and private keys, and can push a root certificate out to all workstations for me. My goal is to have seamless use of the control. To have them do this for me, I was told to ask what file name extensions will be used, and what format the certificate will be in. If someone could answer these questions and help me, I'd appreciate it. From what I've read I need to use the signcode.exe program, which I have on my w...

Substitute for ActiveX in .NET
Hello all, Who or what is the subsitute for ActiveX in .NET, since its not supported (natively) by .NET? I have to access a local resource that is impossible via web (html, asp, jscript, etc...), but have to interact with the web page. Thanks. For one, ActiveX is fully supported in .NET. Sure, you need to use unmanaged code to write them (so that the client doesn't require the CLR to be installed), but you can knock them out with ATL just like you used to. Alternatively, you can drop a .NET component into a page (using the <object> element), but this will require the CLR to ...

ActiveX in .NET #2
I am trying to create an ActiveX control using VS 2008 in C# as I want to do some client side work that will only work in an ActiveX control.  I created a project based on code I found on internet where I created a User Control with COM Interop and created a web page that embeds the control as an <object>.  It works and javascript can communicate with the control.  My trouble starts when I try to run access the server from a machine that does not have the control.  The page never prompts to install the ActiveX object we're so familiar with.  I created a CAB...

Thinking of building a free module / free source / free tutorial / free docs...ideas?
I'm relatively new to dnn module development. As a former trainer, I learn the best by teaching and will often create a tutorial and documentation (course curriculim) and thus learn it much more in its entirity by doing so. I wanted to build a dnn module. These are my thoughts on the requirements:--Offer the PA free--Offer the Source free (same open-source licensing dnn is released under -- BSD?)--I would like to implement the "best practices" laid out by the core members or most respected members of the community. These are the rules that the certification guidelines will probably become.--...
