JavaScript - Read-Only Address Bar in Popup Window? Window.Open()

 I would like for an address bar to appear in window.open popup windows, but I would like it to be read only so the user can't enter another address and go outside my site.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Thanks for any info!

If Javascript isn't the way to do it I'm up for whatever.

I dont think there is a way to make the address bar read-only. Actually the idea of not letting the user navigate away from your website is not correct. However you can still open the window without any addressbar like below

window.open('Webform2.aspx','','toolbar=no');

" Actually the idea of not letting the user navigate away from your website is not correct."

You've got the wrong idea, completely. its not a website i'm trying to trap people in, its a web application people use for their daily work.  The user navigates the application in the main full screen window, and occasionally a popup will be triggered by the user, a form will be completed and saved, and the window closed.

 i want the user to be able to copy the url from the address bar in the popup window, but not use the address bar to try and navigate somewhere else in the application.

I dont think you can make it read-only, Try to display the user on the popup window so it can be displayed.

What difference would that be? They are both still web applications and subject to the same rules. Sorry, you can't do that for security sake. If you could, hackers would have a field day!

 Without using Javascript "window.open", Is it possible to show a popup window without address bar, menu bar & also with IE page size etc? I want to do it without using html/dhtml controls. Using Javascript is the only way to open a true browser window.You can use DHTML (with Javascript) to open a div that can be styled to look like a window, but it will be placed within the page (although you can visually make it appear on top of the page).If this post was useful to you, please mark it as answer.
