when the user clicks the image button to show the calendar extender on my web form it submits the whole form instead of showing the calendar??

when the user clicks the image button to show the calendar extender on my web form it submits the whole form instead of just showing the calendar??  I have another button that submits the form. my calendar image button is acting like a submit button also instead of acting like a calendar popout button. Does anybody know how I can set an image button to not submit the form and cause my validations to render. I only want it to pop out the Ajax calendar for the specific textbox?

Oops. Yes, I had that there but I deleted it before I posted the message becasue I am using the extender without the image button until figure out how to use the image button without it submitting the whole form. I would think it would have worked because most of the time people use date textboxes is within forms.

Try using Image webcontrol instead of ImageButton webcontrol.

 Good luck!

but there isn;t a click beahvior for an image webcontrol. How could I use that?  For now, I am using a watermark in the date textbox with a calendar image in the background. But if anybody knows how I can use the image button without having it submit my form. can someone please let me know?

Hi cluce,

Based on my understanding, your issue is that the you added a ImageButton as an associated button of the Calendar Extender, but when you click it, the whole form was submitted rather than the Calendar. If I have misunderstood you, please feel free to let me know, thanks.

I have tested your code locally, and could not find out where is the issue clearly. My test code is below and it works both on IE7.0 and FireFox.

<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="SoluTest_CalendarUserControl._Default" %>

            </tr>
        </table>
    </div>
    </form>

</html>

If your problem persists there, we suggest that you would better remove the controls one by one until find out the real cause. If unfortunately, you are failed by following my suggestions, please let me know with a simple repro. Thanks for understanding.

Please let me know whether this helps or not.

Thanks for teh reply.  But I am not using an update panel extender but your understanding for my problem is correct.

here is all the code for that page but As you can see I have a submit button at the bottom that is being used to submit my form:          I also had taken out the calendar button and used a watermark to represenent that a calendar feature is there but I am still curious on how to use 2 buttons to accomplsh this without it conflicting with submittal of the form.

Hi cluce,

I have tested your new source code again, and found out that the "CausesValidation" property of the "ImageButton1" had been set with "True", which caused your validations to render, thus, the issue occurred liked the behavior after you click the "submit" button. Actually the page will not be submitted if you set the "submit"button to submit the form.

To achieve your goal, we recommend changing the value of "CausesValidation" property with "False" instead of its default value "True" by adding this code inside the "ImageButton1": CausesValidation="false".

The "CausesValidation" property gets or sets a value indicating whether validation is performed when the Button control is clicked. For more information, you can refer to this document here.

Please let me know whether this helps or not.

Best regards,

Zhi-Qiang Ni
