Is the Ajax Control Toolkit available for Visual Web Developer Express 2008, or is it meant only for the visual studio products only?
The toolkit is available for all editions, express or full. You just have to add the reference to the .dll file in your application and all add items to your toolbox.
Download the appropriate version and you can view this video for more clues on what to do after that. The main things you need to do are:
1. Download the ajax control toolkit (if you are using 2008, I would say version 3.5 should be good). (http://www.codeplex.com/...How Do I Use AJAX and AJAX Control Toolkit In Visual Studio 2008 When Targetting .NET 2.0 Framework?
I have recently converted a lot of Visual Studio 2003 / .NET Framework 1.1 projects to Visual Studio 2008 / .NET Framework 2.0. I want to be able to use AJAX and AJAX Control Toolkit under Visual Studio 2008 while we target the .NET 2.0 Framework. Unfortunately, we cannot target .NET Framework 3.5 because we need Windows 2003 Server for that and we only have Windows 2000. I do not want to use Visual Studio 2005 either. Is it possible to do what I want given these conditions? You can't stop entropy so why even try?

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me .....
I am using Visual Studio 2008 and i would like to create a .net frame work 2,0 application using the Ajax toolkit v1.
I have installed the Ajax extensions for ASP.net 2.0
I have installed the Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Templates for Visual Studio 2008
I can now create a 2.0 Ajax project with the basic AJAX components.
I now would like to add Ajax Tookit Controls to the project.
However they do not appear in the ToolBox.
I can add a reference to AjaxControlToolkit.dll v1
but when i try and add controls to the toolbox...Troubleshoot Web Service; Ajax AutoComplete events do not appear to not fire; Ajax web service appears to not work. .NET
Folks, I had the situation that Ajax AutoComplete events in the web service did not fire after I copied a project out of a folder, renamed it and moved it to a server. The fix was hard to find but easy to solve. I had some web service modules in an ASMX file that provided AutoComplete entries -- i.e., after the user keys in 2 or 3 characters, the list of possible entries with those leading characters is displayed for the user to select.
To solve the problem, look at the web service's directive, not the code-behind or the ASMX designer.

I am assuming the Visual Developer 2008 has ajax already with it, correct?
So, I downloaded the toolkit. I click on my toolbox, Add items, then I browse to AjaxControlToolkit.dll, ( I have downloaded, unizpped, the new 3.5 package)
Then I get the error:

I installed Visual Web Developer Express 2008 sp1 on my two machines, one running Vista & other running XP. On the XP machine, when I open VWD Express 2008 I get an option to use Web Application project template as a new project option but on my Vista machine I only get an option to use Web site model template option. My question is, is the sp1 incompatible with vista? Any help or explanation would be appreciated

I would like to play with the AJAX control "Colapsable Content", but the installation of the "ASP.NET Ajax Control Toolkit" failed and indicated I do not have the right visual studio to install. I tried installing ver. 1 (for VS 2005) and then ver. 3 (for VWD 2008) as instructed, but both failed.
I presume the problem is that the Control Toolkit only works with the full version of Visual Web Designer 2008?

Pretty much as subject! I have installed VWD 2008, however, when I am working on a web application I noticed that in the toolbox there are no ajax controls listed! I am sure I read somewhere that it was included with 2008 and it was not required to be installed seperately like 2005 did!
