Linux 6.x 7.x client to 5.5.x server
Is it possible for a Linux 6.x or 7.x client to connect to a server (NT in
this case) running SQLAnywhere 5.5.x ?
Thanks in advance,
Generally, no; however, you can use OpenClient (ASE's dblib) or JConnect (if
you're using Java) to communicate with an Open Server Gateway (dbos50.exe that
comes with ASA5.x for NT) as a front-end to ASA 5.5.

What causes this? I'm using the MSSql server Native driver, even the EPF

setting that I need to change? I tried playing with a number of parms,
namely Async, CursorScroll, StaticBind, nothing seems to work.
Thanks very much in advance.

I have several heavily used and widely distributed apps that use ODBC to
connect to MSSQL 6.5. I would like to upgrade my database to MSSQL 7.
Obviously, it would be great if I could just turn off the old server and
plug in the new server (same name, ip address) and have the apps connect to
it with their current setups. This doesn't seem very likely. What would
you suggest as the best approach?
Thanks for your suggestions.
You will have to have a test server to do this for the first time. Weather
it will be smooth or not, it depends on three major factors: the ...PowerBuilder 5 + 7, Problems on NT sp5???
We have had intermitant problems running PowerBuilder applications on a
server with NT service pack 5 for quite a while.
The environment is:
Windows NT Server, service pack 5, build 1381
PowerBuilder 7.0.3, build 10009
We can restore the database to another server and run the same applications

have NT service pack 6 on them.
The applications do not error, the database just appears in a wait state,
and we have no idea what the problem is. With the problems occuring

You do have the source to Cornerstone, right?
Or did they distribute their framework only as PBDs?

Everything is normal until I port the program build in this environment to

When the program retrieves rows in that environment I get the error message

I want to connect to Ms Sqlserver 7.0 with powerbuilder 6.5.
Would you please tell me where I can download the native database driver?

I have not been able to find a native driver anywhere. We are having no
real problems using the SQL 6.5 drivers with PB 6.5.1. You have to upgrade
to PB 6.5.1 or there are some issues. (Like you can't paint a DW off of a
stored proc) Hope this helps....Paul

...PB 7.0 and MS SQLSERVER 6.5 PROBLEMS!
Since migrating to PB 7.0, I've noticed that when I try to establish a
MS SQL connection via the database painter, the DB connection takes
about 2 minutes. This behavior is similar to when I had a named/pipes
connection. I've verified, via the MS client connection manager, that I
am in fact communicating across a TCP/IP connection. I've no problem
connecting (with an identical profile setup) with PB 5 or PB 6.5, just
PB 7.0. While it's trying to connect to the DB, my client machine is
thrashing the disk and PB70.exe is consuming 70% of the CPU. I've also
