Hi!

We have a server-sdk supporting both version 7 and 8 of SQL Anywhere. =
The sdk is in use=20
by several of our customers.

Now I'm going to add support for version 9. And I'm wondering what =
driver I should set reference
to in vs.net (2003 version). I've run some tests that indicates that I =
can continue to use the 8.0.2.4308
driver against an 9 database. But I guess the 9 driver might be better =
when it comes to performance
and other stuff. So the question is what to do? Continue with version 8 =
or upgrading to version 9,=20
hence removing the ref to version 8 and replace with 9. What happens =
with current customers
running the system on version 8 when they get the new version of my =
server sdk?

( VS does not allow me to use both drivers as reference in the =
project... )

There are lots of excellent reasons to move to ASA 9.0, including increased
performance, XML support, lots of SQL enhancements, built in HTTP support
and enhanced tools.
However, if you you are just looking at the ADO.Net drivers, currently there
is not a lot of difference between the iAnywhere.Data.ASAClient providers in
ASA 8.0 and ASA 9.0 (because they are relatively new in both versions), so
for the short term, you should be able to use use either driver with ASA 8.0
or ASA 9.0.
You would eventually want to upgrade though, since any changes to the
ADO.Net driver that takes advantage of new features would only be made to
the current version.

Hi!

We have a server-sdk supporting both version 7 and 8 of SQL Anywhere. The
sdk is in use
by several of our customers.

Now I'm going to add support for version 9. And I'm wondering what driver I
should set reference
to in vs.net (2003 version). I've run some tests that indicates that I can
continue to use the 8.0.2.4308
driver against an 9 database. But I guess the 9 driver might be better when
it comes to performance
and other stuff. So the question is what to do? Continue with version 8 or
upgrading to version 9,
hence removing the ref to version 8 and replace with 9. What happens with
current customers
running the system on version 8 when they get the new version of my server
sdk?

( VS does not allow me to use both drivers as reference in the project... )
