How can I add proxy table to my ASA db from Acess db.

Repost:

Hi,
How can I add proxy table to my ASA db from Acess db.
What problem I got while linking asa table in Acess is, when open the table
in access first time it is ok, but next time I try to open it freezes, then
I went to link table manager in access add refresh then it is fine. I
checked my odbc configuration also, it is fine.

Did you not see my reply to your previous thread?

1) I'll assume MS Access has been installed, and the Microsoft Access Driver
(*.mdb) is listed as an available ODBC Driver in the Microsoft ODBC
Administrator when you go under the "Drivers" tab.

2) Created a user ODBC data source called "Northwind" that simply pointed
to the Northwind database. The entries for the data source in the registry
are as follows :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\Northwind]
"Driver"="C:\\WINNT\\System32\\odbcjt32.dll"
"DBQ"="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office\\Samples\\Northwind.mdb"
"Description"="Sample DB"
"DriverId"=dword:00000019
"FIL"="MS Access;"
"SafeTransactions"=dword:00000000
"UID"=""

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\Northwind\Engines]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\Northwind\Engines\Jet]
"ImplicitCommitSync"=""
"MaxBufferSize"=dword:00000800
"PageTimeout"=dword:00000005
"Threads"=dword:00000003
"UserCommitSync"="Yes"

3) Create a new database called msaccess.db with the following command :
dbinit msaccess.db

4) Start the database engine :
dbeng8 msaccess.db
Obviously, your command line will change slightly if you're using ASA6 or ASA7. I think proxy table were first
introduced in ASA v603, so you'll need to be at that version or greater.

5) Connect to the database using DBISQL and execute the following SQL
statements :
CREATE SERVER "ps_Northwind" CLASS 'odbc' USING 'Northwind';
CREATE EXISTING TABLE Shippers AT 'ps_Northwind;C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\Samples\Northwind.mdb;;Shippers';

Hi Reg Domaratzki,
Thanks for the reply now and also earlier. It is really very detail and
helpful. I will try this method.
I all already have ASA 7 db so, I will skip the portion of creating the
Sybase db.
I did saw last post, I thought it is too old so I mentioned "Repost" and
started again. Sorry for that.

HI Gurus, Is there any way I can convert my local ASA DB to network database, for example can I convert EASDEMODB.db into server database. I am using a local database for my application and I want to convert that DB to server DB. Thanks in Advance Vino As posted in ASE newsgroup Vino What yo want to do in not dependent on the database file, but on the engine you use. Cannot CREATE/ALTER table, ADD column, or save data to db via PB702 db painter
Can no longer update table date and change table definitions via the PB database painter interface: we were able to do it in PB6.5. Currently running DB2 6.1, and DBA says there should be no problems due to database configuration. Errors indicate the pbodb070.ini file has problem with "ColumnElement". I checked the ini file, and there was no key for DB2 except for DB2CS and DB2012. I have not found any useful documentation on this problem and the way this ini file captures parameters for the specific database. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you very much...

PocketBuilder -> ASA Proxy Tables -> Oracle DB
I am running a query from PocketBuilder connecting to SQLAnywhere 9 Proxy Tables which connect to an Oracle 10g database. Normally this works great, but when I attempt some more complex queries, I have MAJOR issues. Look at the below query. When I run this while connected directly to Oracle, the query takes about 31milliseconds (.031 seconds). When I run the exact same query (with the exception that I change Oracles SYSDATE call to ASA's Today() function) the query takes 7 minutes to run. Usually queries to the proxy tables return data nearly as quickly as when connected directly t...

I'd like to do this with minimal interuption to the website. Possible techniques: 1) I could set up a DTS package to copy the table object overwriting the destination table 2) I could export to a flat file and then bulk import into the live table (after truncating it) 3) I could run a process to update smaller chunks of data at a time running delete queries and insert queries. ...
