pb application deployment of application
ver 10.5 is there an easy way of finding which pb runtime
files i need to deploy with my application to create an
installation for a customer
First of all, check out the PB runtime packager, and documentation in HTML
books under application techniques, chapter 40.
You can also use tools like process explorer (www.sysinternals.com - now
Microsoft) that lists the active DLL's used by an application. Including
tools like Dependency Walker (www.dependencywalker.com). (That even
integrates with Process Explorer.)

I've got an app built but cannot figure out how to set up the
deployment. Where is there a list of files needed for the SQL ANywhere
5.x runtime and Pb 6.0 runtime, along with necessary odbc entries. I've
limited the client to windows 95 or newer.
Developed under pb 6.0 on w95, but can't seem to figure out how to
deploy the runtime versions. App works great in development. Is there a
faq or some other documentation that explains in simple terms how to
accomplish this basic task?

I need to deploy a PowerBuilder 6 application in a Novell Netware to quite
a few PCs in a W95/W98 environment.
Is there a way to automate the setting up of each PC with SQL Anywhere?
That is, I don't want to have to sit down at each PC and enter the info.
into the Registry, etc if it can be done in some other way.
I have the means to automate the deploying of the PB code, etc. by using
login scripts, etc. Is there a way to do this to get the Registries
updated with SQL Anywhere stuff?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can deploy the SQLAnywhere runtime engine freely.

In the past, to support different PB applications, I would deployed (just
copy) the runtime files to a specific directory on the client machine and
add it to the system path. This process worked for PB 9 and PB 11.1. With PB
12 (classic MDI application deployment only), we have found a slight change
to this. It has to do with the Sybase.PowerBuilder.DataWindow.Excel12.dll.
It seems like this file needs to be added to the GAC. The functionality to
save to Excel as XSLT works on a development machine (one with PB 12
installed) but does not work on a client machine. The dll exists b...SQL Anywhere Client Application Deployment
As a Corporate Application Partner (CAP), we're just about ready to begin
distributing our software with SQL Anywhere 126.96.36.199. I'm charged with
creating the installation process.
I've downloaded and studied the document(s) titled Sybase SQL Anywhere
Client Application Deployment. This document outlines the files required
for a SQL Anywhere Client isntallation.
However, it doesn't speak to changes to the registry (excepting those
posted for ODBC access) nor does it mention changes to the autoexec.bat.

I telephoned Sybase sales today to see if the run-time version of the
SQLA v10 is available. I asked the question:
"Has the Runtime version of SQL Anywhere 10 been released yet?"
Because I was expecting either "yes" or "no" as an answer, I thought I
was asking a simple question. I was wrong.
The first person who answered my call responded by saying, "What state
do you live in?" I said, "Why, is the runtime license only available in
certain states?" He didn't get the humor, but he was good enough to

I created an MSI file for the runtime version of SQL Anywhere. I installed
it manually on my computer and looked in regedit. I see it, but I don't see

I am perplexed because it seems like the version would be key to creating
the configuration.xml file required to install it via the bootstrapper in
