A few questions if anyone happens to know the answers:

1) Does the use of this driver require the installation of the regular Delphi
dbExpress stuff on each client machine? Or can this driver by itself work without the
Borland stuff?

2) Can you link this driver into a Delphi executable? In other words, is there any
way to avoid needing to install additional stuff besides one's own executable?

3) Can this driver work with Borland C++ Builder v6?

4) Does anyone connect to ASA using third party drivers for Delphi or BCB which
implement the Borland interfaces to allow use with Borland and third party data aware
controls? If so, what drivers do you use and can those drivers be linked into the
application executable?

I'm interested in solutions for Delphi/BCB that:

A) Reduce the amount of stuff that has to be installed and administered on the client
  machines.

B) That implement the Borland class interfaces such as TDatabase and so on so that
there is compatibility with existing data aware controls from Borland and others.

C) That work with BCB.

Any suggestions for this?

NativeDB (http://www.nativedb.com/) is a very good interface between
Delphi/BCB and ASA. It links into the executable so your app has only one
file to deploy to clients. (An ASA .dll must be accessible either on the
client or in a shared folder on the server, which is where I put it so I
only need to update ASA on one computer.) NativeDB uses ASA's "embedded SQL"
interface, a C API, so you don't need to set up ODBC datasources on the
clients. It includes a dbExpress driver as well as TDataset descendants that
work well with all data-aware controls and reporting tools. It's a very
high-quality, well-tested, well-supported, well-documented package.

1) Yes, you have to deploy the Borland dbExpress 'stuff'. However, this is
only 2 dlls.
2) You can link the borland dbExpress dlls (via the .dcu files) into your
app. so you do not have to deploy the dbExpress dlls. There is not yet a
..dcu file available for the ASA dbExpress driver. We are working on making
one available.
3) yes
4) As Richard mentioned, NativeDB is another interface I have seen
mentioned often with good reviews.

Borland Delphi/C++ builder dbExpress driver for ASA now in beta!
iAnywhere, continuing to expand its support for development environments, would like to introduce the Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA) DBExpress driver, which will enable users to write high performance database applications in Delphi, C++ Builder and Delphi.Net quickly and efficiently. If you are interested in beta testing a dbExpress driver for ASA with Borland the products ( C++ Builder, Delphi 7 or the current Delphi 8 beta), please e-mail me at hinspergZZZ@ianywhere.com (after removing the 3 Z's) and I will sign you up and send you the driver. Delphi dbExpress driver for ASA?

(Delphi) DBExpress driver for ASA???
Hello, Does anyone know of a DBExpress driver for ASA besides VISOCO. I haven't a very good experience with them or their product and would like to find an alternative. Preston I haven't heard of a DBExpress driver, but many Borland users develop with NativeDB, http://www.nativedb.com/. It doesn't require DLLs, and has advantages over DBExpress because it is made for SQL Anywhere and has hooks to SQL Anywhere capablities such as callbacks. It's also fast. I've never heard a complaint about the product or the vendor. Richard "Preston" <...

How do to connect database server with Delphi 7 and ASA dbexpress driver.
Hi. How do to connect database server? I used Borland Delphi, version 7 with driver dbExpress and ASA version 9. I only Connected in localhost. thank you It's been a while, but I believe there is a ConnectString property in the ASA dbExpress connection object. You can set the ConnectionString property when you develop your application using the IDE, or you can set it in code. Your ConnectionString can either be something like: uid=xxx;pwd=xxx;dsn=odbc_dsn_name or uid=xxx;pwd=xxx;links=tcpip(host=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx);eng=xxxxxx In the first case, your ODBC DSN ...

Are there any 32-bit or 64-bit ODBC drivers for ASA 9.0 for Windows OS's available for download?
Hi everyone, I'd like to create a dsn pointing to ASA 9.0 database on a remote server. The local PC does not have any Sybase / ASA product installed. 1. Is it possible to create the DSN on this local PC? 2. If so, where can I possibly get the drivers? 3. Any other information on this will be highly appreciated. Regards. might want to post this question to the sybase.public.sqlanywhere.general newsgroup. Driver to Delphi DBExpress
Hi... Does anyone know if exist some SYBASE driver to DBExpress ? Regards Marco I don't think there exists one yet, and I haven't heard of anyone working on one (yet). IAnywhere knows about this but hasn't made any commitments (yet). However, you don't need DBExpress! See Marco Cantu's book Mastering Delphi 6 as to why. Simply, dbGO is a MUCH better alternative, and for my money, the best way to go yet to connect from Delphi to ASA. ASA 8 comes with a "provider" that allows you to use dbGO (essentially OLEDB). I recommend you check i...

SQLAnywhere dbexpress driver
Is there a current version of dbexpress driver for SQLAnywhere which supports access to SQLAnywere 11.0 for Delphi 2009? If not, will it be available any time soon? VISOCO offers one, but it appears to be outdated. Also, use to in Delphi 7.0, one could double-click on the TSQLConnection component and it would open up dialog to manage drivers and add new. Doesn't do that in Delphi 2009 for me. Any ideas? ASA dbExpress driver
Using ASA 9.0.0.1108, dbExpress driver, Delphi 7. Testing the dbExpress driver we have found that when pulling a dataset the Sybase dbExpres driver pulls down a "required=true" attribute for every field. This forces there to be a non blank and non zero entry in every field which has made any further testing pretty hard to do. With other dbExpress drivers this "required" attribute was not passed down. Why is this attribute being sent to the client dataset? I checked our Datasnap dataset at the server side and it does not have any TFields defined, just the quer...
